I wasn't there but I'm putting in a vote for Cecilia! |
This makes me want to have a cynical push pop then get my groove on. |
Gen-Xer not realizing that the only Boomers who still care about The Who never grew up at all. |
No. Most people that age are MAGA and were into that music because it was popular at the time. They aren't still liberal like when they were 20. |
How people can go from the OP’s commentary politics is insane. |
You don't see how politics shows people they can act crazy? Top down. |
Paul Simon hasn’t played “You Can Call Me Al” in years due to his declining health and very poor hearing, sadly. He is 83 years old.
I enjoyed the concert. I especially loved seeing Edie Brickell join in. Also I got tickets for below face value on StubHub! |
That's so interesting. I pay hundreds of dollars for a LIVE performance. So i expect flaws. That's part of the magic to see real professionals handle production problems. Like when the speakers were down and the band just went acoustic. Beautiful and human |
I feel like people are broken post-COVID. |
Love this perspective! |
I don't understand why/how he could play other songs but not "You can call me Al?" Is he playing guitar on the other ones so he knows where he is in the song exactly, but he doesn't play guitar on You can call me Al? Or is it too fast? I just don't understand the connection but am interested! I grew up loving Paul Simon because my brothers listened to him. The Boxer, America, I Am a Rock, Old Friends. And then I found some of his (then) newer songs like Hearts and Bones, Born at the Right Time, etc. And I will always love him for this amazing SNL performance: |
Eras tour ruined me for ever wanting to spend more than $100 on (almost) anyone else. |
Call Me Al is very fast and involves his voice going into falsetto. It's possible he doesn't like how his voice sounds when he sings it or also he just might not want to play it. When he toured that album he had a HUGE band. You might need that for it to sound right. |

Well, as someone who fought to get tickets for Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo, I can tell you that plenty of people out there are still fighting to shell out over $150 per ticket. And I lost out on the Olivia Rodrigo tickets. |
