Learn from my mistake. Definitely go over the guidelines. I took my DD and about 8 of her friends to a Chinese restaurant for her 14th birthday and sat at another table. The bill was over $1,000 (including tax and tip) when they were done. They ordered all these mocktails, apps, etc and I didn’t realize it. The kids don’t know what they’re doing and it just ends up super expensive.
When my DD did something similar when at a restaurant I said no more than 150$ (Her and two other friends and the place was cheap enough that you could get a good meal off that for 3 people). She spent 685$ and a ton of leftovers she threw out the next day after I told her to keep it and the family can eat over the course of a few days. I made her get a job and she had to give me all her checks until her bill was paid. She now also can only use her own money when going out with friends (with some exceptions).
