New GAO report finds RTO didn't improve efficiency or productivity

It’s because GAO is a threat. They can investigate executive branch agencies. They can determine if Trump is illegally impounding funds.

And because GAO saves the government money because it actually audits. And not whatever smash and grab DOGE is doing.

+1 we have a GAO that could have been expanded and put to work auditing and instead Dump appoints Elon and brings in a bunch of incompetent, overpaid dweebs to destroy government agencies and increase the national debt.

Australian study finds major benefits to telework:

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/272938280_Telework_productivity_and_wellbeing_an_Australian_perspective

They find that overall, workers are more focused and productive, have a more positive view of their work, are healthier and less stressed out.

The key is in managing the work effectively. That means establishing trust and and setting clear expectations on timelines and deliverables, and so on. Good managers know how to do this.

Incompetent managers on the other hand use RTO and "count how many asses in seats at 8AM on the dot" as their key performance metric.

This study just adds to the growing body of work demonstrating the value of telework and remote work.

So how about we reinstate telework and remote work, and get rid of the incompetent managers and so-called leaders who don't know how to manage workers?

It was meant to intimidate the "deep state" and get people aligned with administration priorities. Which its been effective at to a point. In that sense its more "efficient."

It will be interesting to see if they stick with RTO for the entire term or if this was just a shock and awe move.

Many feds are already getting over the "shock and awe" and now hate this administration and it's sham "priorities" even more than ever. Trump has made enemies when he could have made allies.

We’ve already been allowed ad-hoc telework at my agency.

I expect more of this. They made their point. They need people to
Stay and still Don’t have space for them. People Will quietly be allowed to revert to telework.

This "quietly" stuff is crap. The Republicans need to start publicly apologizing to the American workforce, and especially to federal employees, who were viciously demonized and accused of being "lazy unelected bureaucrats" - while even now DOGE is admitting they are hard working, efficient and mission focused.

RTO cost the federal agency I used to work with (before being laid off because they terminated all those grant contracts) their best employee by far in the 15 years I worked with them. She was a great worker, instituting new processes, was reshaping the grant to work better for everyone, all of it. They hired her as a remote worker and then told her she had to return to the office at some random federal building in her city. She uses a motorized wheelchair and the extra cost to her day was too much. So there you go. She quit. How is that better?

Fine.

Then they will never get my trust, vote or donations.
