Thank you for this - I have a high functioning autistic daughter who just isn't a fit for team sports. I also have an extremely dialed in competitive daughter who thrives with the best competition. D2 would be frustrated playing with her older sister regardless of how strong of a player they were. D2 is a great teammate and would never do what happened to your DS, but at some point coaches are going to try to field a team of like minded/ability kids. |
Totally agree ^^ she will be fine! Better to happen now than when she is 16 |
OP here .. well they cut her , I am really having a tough time wrapping my brain around it but .. they took 5 new players and cut her off the roster. I realize she is behind due to her major injury this past 5 months but I still thought they would offer her a season to be on the roster that she has been on for a 3rd year and get back into things. I am trying to keep her spirits up but I do think it was pretty terrible.
Not sure which team cut her, but Villarreal might be a good fit for her and her two friends who decided not to re-sign. |
OP here - yes I guess that is true , if they do cut her , even though she will be back to 100% by mid summer... you guys are right , that isn't as close knit as I imagined. That said the coach called prior to tryouts to encourage her to come .. but then also followed up that there are tons of kids trying out .. I guess it is a wait and see and let her feel sad if she does have to pivot for the fall.. TIA for the comradery !
Having gone through this. If it is a serious lower body injury(leg, ankle, etc) it can take up to 6 more months after she is cleared to return to get in form. The last part of it is recovery burst and speed. It will look like she is running in sand. She will also be weaker- go to ground quicker on challenges. Maybe look for different club. There are a lot of good small clubs. I remember my DD’s leg was a different size after the cast was taken off. It takes a while to rebuild the muscles. Good luck. |
