Have you ever considered that your son was a leading jerk and that’s why he got cut? Seems to be a real lack of reflection. No kid getting plenty of time gets cut for “fit” unless the kid is the problem. [/quote]

Well he has ADHD and the coaches clearly find him annoying because he talks and moves a lot, but no he's not a jerk. Kind of the opposite, he gets pushed around because he wants to fit in. He's always encouraging and positive to others on the team. Several parents have told me that he did or said something meaningful to their player. A couple of weeks back some kids ganged up on him and were tossing around his stuff and roasting him. He mentioned it to the coaches and they said "not my problem". In retrospect a lot of little things like that happened over the past 2 years that I ignored or brushed off. It's only now that we are leaving that Im able to admit the toxicity.

And he is a good enough player to start and get more play time than most. Obviously he's not the star. But the coaches use him to help the team win. He's being cut because he's not part of their in crowd.

The bullying is not OK.  But as the kids get older team tactics matter just as much as individual skill and ability.   If the kid is disruptive to the instructions that does become an increasing problem over time.   My adhd kid cannot play team sports at all.   Obviously this team is not a good environment for your kid and you are better off going elsewhere.    Unfortunately I think it is going to be hard to find a minimally paid travel soccer coach that has the skillset to deal with challenging kids. [/quote]

Thank you for this - I have a high functioning autistic daughter who just isn't a fit for team sports. I also have an extremely dialed in competitive daughter who thrives with the best competition. D2 would be frustrated playing with her older sister regardless of how strong of a player they were. D2 is a great teammate and would never do what happened to your DS, but at some point coaches are going to try to field a team of like minded/ability kids. [/quote]
