Their fears are unfounded and only a result of hysterical media in Europe.

There is truly no difference in risk now for a French family than there was six months ago. If anything I’d argue it’s safer since crime rates have continued to decrease.

This is actually why Trump won. People got tired of the hysteria and being gaslit.

You clearly live in some type of bubble. Beyond the visa/ border concerns, Trump has angered pretty much the whole world (except for Russia) and tourists don’t want to spend their hard earned money supporting a bully and a fascist regime.

The main reason Europeans are angry is they want us to defend them from Putin, and now it’s clear we likely won’t.

You can claim it’s other things like visas being revoked for residents who support terrorist regimes. But for all problems in life, the root of the cause is usually money. In this case, we aren’t paying for their defense and they are angry about it.

I'm less worried about global tourism as u am about the relationships politically severed.

Domestic travel is going to be around. Whether to cities or national parks, everyone needs a break. It'll be crowded over summer everywhere I am sure and frankly I have no prob if it's not!

Like pp we are taking a break from international travel - dollar will fall anyway. But we will still travel maybe not as glamorously but we gotta live and have fun.

So on this front while less tourists arriving from foreign countries, I'm actually kinda happy about it.

Do you ever think it might be related to your cries of faux fascism?

Yes. I watched a news clip last week - can't remember which news org - but it highlighted an innkeeper in Maine who says his summer bookings are down by 90%. Most of his customers are Canadians, who have booked with him for 20 years or more, always traveling the same week, asking for the same room. They have nearly all cancelled their plans. He predicts he will go out of business in short order.

We met a an older Canadian couple in Breckenridge during spring break and they said all of their friends had canceled trips but they still made the trip because have grandkids in Colorado. They also said that people kept apologizing to them when they said they were Canadian.

“Visas being revoked for people
Who support terrorist regimes?” You mean like the EU and Canada citizens who have been arrested and kept in confinement by ICE without due process? There are travel warnings for the US from multiple countries. Get off Fox News.

Wow that’s crazy. Now the “hysterical” media will report this and scare more people into not coming here.

Of course others will claim that he probably posted online sympathies for “terrorists.” Sure, tens of thousands of dead Palestinian children but who cares since they are being led by terrorists. So sad.

This is real fascism.

We are deporting people to prison in El Salvador without due process.
Trump is ignoring the courts.
Trump is ignoring Congress.
He's acting like a dictator.

Trump is talking about invading Greenland.
He is engaged in a trade war against Canada because he wants the territory.
He is engaged in anti-DEI activities because he wants to protect white supremacy.

This is real fascism.

I hate that Trump has made enemies of all v US esp offending Canada - I mean who the hell tries to offend them, the Canadians are so civil!

BUT - I don't think that tourism decimated in the US because foreign travelers may opt not to visit. The US has a lot of people. The main attractions will still have visitors and doesn't everyone always complain esp of late how everywhere is overcrowded??!

I would however look into staying in US v global travel only because it makes sense to stick around and help the domestic economy. Going abroad also will likely be so much more expensive when the dollar craters.

Maybe the National Parks will be enjoyable for a change and not bumper to bumper crowded!

Look on the bright side as they say.

You are forgetting that after 9/11 the NATO states were forced by the USA to invest billions in the war against the Islamists to support the USA. Many European NATO soldiers died or returned seriously injured. And now the USA is suddenly supporting the war criminal Putin. It is good that Europe is becoming more independent, but whether this is also good for the USA is another question.
