Parks will still be crowded. After all, “it’s America’s best idea.” The real danger to parks and natural areas, is a certain party’s desire to frack, pave, develop and destroy them. |
Well, they’re not French (not sure where you got that from). They’re from Sweden. Are you saying the Swedish media is “hysterical”?? |
So the entire world outside of MAGA is hysterical and overreacting? Do you know how you sound? |
wake up |
It’s going to be a lot worse this summer. It’s very sad. Most of our major cities rely on tourism. |
The lines will be fun given that they’re just firing park rangers for no apparent reason. |
It doesn’t matter what the situation really would be for foreign tourists in the US. The perception is what matters and right now the perception is unfavorable. It’ll be interesting to see what happens this summer. |
Same is true in reverse. Postponing all international travel until things settle because I don't want to be ill treated while abroad due to geopolitics. As it happens, we have about a month's worth of domestic travel planned in 2025 (four different trips). To the extent we have any additional travel funds this year or next, it will probably also be domestic. So our tourist $$ will be spent at home in the US. |
My Canadian friends said Canadians are canceling their trips to the US. |
I’m not seeing this in Montana. The Walmart and Costco in Kalispell parking lots are packed to the brim with Canadian license plates as usual. Ski season is just about ending, but we get a lot of Canadian skiers during ski season. They always load up their vehicles with consumables on their way home to Canada. |
My favorite kind of reply- clear data presented, but it doesn't match your personal observations taken over 10 minutes. Canadian ground entries from BC are down 40% in March 2025 compared to March 2024 hard data from CBP plate scans. |
Some of the park worker have been let go by DOGE, so they don't have enough park employees to man the parks. |

PP here. Very true. While I’m not really worried about mistreatment, we aren’t going to spend the money when we’re facing a big decrease in income. Domestic travel is going to be driving only. |
Seriously,.Mr. Moneybags PP is different than me. Our family will be making a short driving trip and saving as much money as we can. |
You clearly live in some type of bubble. Beyond the visa/ border concerns, Trump has angered pretty much the whole world (except for Russia) and tourists don’t want to spend their hard earned money supporting a bully and a fascist regime. |
