What's so embarrassing about it?

OP here. Growing up I was quirky, artsy, crunchy, and politically opinionated. My son is none of those. Just a normal mainstream kid with typical interests such as sports and fitness. Life will be easier for him. I don’t get what I’m supposed to be embarrassed about, I’m happy for him.

You admit your kid is boring, ordinary, mainstream, conventional, and not a critical thinker.

You should be embarrassed that you have failed as a parent.

Geed.

LACs seem to either be super selective or hardly selective at all and there doesn’t seem to be a lot in the middle. What am I missing? Looking for real mid tier not DCUM mid tier.

I think he would like Holy Cross if okay with catholic. He would need to show high demonstrated interest or participate in one of the ED rounds.

I think what they are saying is they are average, regular kid. A normal kid.

Stop reading too much into this.

This is stupid. This is a parent. A regular average parent. OP does not have to explain or justify to any of you idiots. OP is looking for suggestions for their kid. Chill out.

Wow. I hate to feed you, Troll, but you’re nuts.

To state the obvious … having mainstream and conventional interests does not mean someone lacks critical thinking skills or is ordinary or boring.

Are you joking?
This world already has far too many people who take themselves and their opinions very seriously and think they are hot stuff. Sorry not sorry if I did not produce another one.

Besides, you list mainstream and conventional as if those qualities preclude critical thought. That is not the case.

.

Public, rigorous. Almost all of his ECs are related to main sport which is year round and his “side” sport. Some part time jobs and coaching. Plays an instrument but not particularly high level.

If you would like to take a statistical approach to your inquiry, this analysis may be helpful:

https://wallethub.com/edu/e/college-rankings/40750

By viewing the Selectivity Rank column you can find colleges in the intermediate zone you seek. Trinity (CT), for example, places 83rd nationally by selectivity. If this might seem suitable, then you can search for other ideas in this selectivity vicinity. The "width" of the vicinity will be up to you.

Yes. The geed you responded to has a kid who didn't get in. That's why they pretend to hate the school.
