OP here. Growing up I was quirky, artsy, crunchy, and politically opinionated. My son is none of those. Just a normal mainstream kid with typical interests such as sports and fitness. Life will be easier for him. I don’t get what I’m supposed to be embarrassed about, I’m happy for him.[/quote]

This world already has far too many people who take themselves and their opinions very seriously and think they are hot stuff. Sorry not sorry if I did not produce another one.

Besides, you list mainstream and conventional as if those qualities preclude critical thought. That is not the case.
