Just something very unnatural about doing that.

It’s way better to keep having kids, especially at advanced age with complications or leaving it up to woman to pump themselves full of hormones or have much more major surgery to tie their tubes.

You forgot the eyeroll emoji

OP I had brief regret when my youngest was 4. Then life got super busy again.

Now that they are teenagers I've never been more grateful that we stopped when we did. The teenage years really broke me. 2/10 do not recommend.

I also got a postpartum infection and he wouldn’t latch - it was rough.

I went on to have two more children and they were each easier experiences. Your fertility isn’t gone at 35 and if you had one more child, it’s possible the second time could be easier.

That said, if one is best for your family, it’s okay to mourn the life you thought you’d had. Some dreams don’t work out. But you could go to therapy to explore if it’s anxiety preventing you from having another or just help you work through it

Her husband would have to undo his vasectomy.

Not true.

Just have a TESA / TESE or SST done on him. Then IVF.

There have been numerous ART advancements which make it unnecessary to even try to reverse the vasectomy ( which too, is an option).

It’s far less permanent than it once was.

A woman's risk only rises about 3% after 35, 6% after 40. That's nothing, about the same risk as every vaccine carries for elderly patients.

Smoking causes a 15%-20% increase in complications, yet nobody talks about that.

With modern healthcare, there is basically no logical added risk to a post 35 y/o birth for a woman.
Age for men doesn't really matter, as they keep creating healthy sperm their entire lives, just as they age they produce less of it, so sometimes requires more sex to achieve pregnancy.

Yes. No.
It's unhealthy and increases certain cancer risks having a vasectomy.

Above is talking abt vasectomy and is FAKE NEWS

WTH???

What’s your alternative besides try control option??

How would you even know if they had a vasectomy unless they told you?

Your comment makes you less of a woman to me.

NP.

I would have to research the cancer claim.

HOWEVER: there is a rather high incidence of well-known side effects possible after vasectomies, ranging from mild recurring to severe.

Many doctors discount or fail to disclose that about vasectomies.

DP.

Just looked into it and you are wrong.

“Some studies have found a small but statistically significant increase in the risk of prostate cancer after vasectomy, particularly for low-grade cancer”

The topic appears to be not well-studied. PubMed featured a peer reviewed, published study from Denmark which found a significant correlation. Other studies appear inconclusive.

PP: you cannot go around labeling people’s statements “fake news” just because you don’t like the statement.

Everyone: do your research. Pay attention to reliable, factual, sources such as peer-reviewed research.

Appears to me personally:

- the increased cancer risk is very low, but it is not nonexistent as PP falsely claimed.

There are options that can be explored if you both would like to try for another child.

NP. Gotta disagree here. OP was asking about having additional kids, not about having a baby at 36 vs 34. Each additional pregnancy and birth taxes the body and creates additional risk of complications. Also, studies have shown the quality of men's sperm goes down with age.

I think you need to respect the you that made the decision at the time - as the you you are today

It’s tough and that’s a strange statement …
But you and your husband made the decision so that you today didn’t have to after the period of time you went trough

I don’t have regrets for my DH vasectomy … if he hadn’t we’d have had more kids and gone right back to the (very dark) place we were after our last kid. Today we’re happy healthy and stable

TESE is now commonly done and is a proven part of ART. It’s available all over the DMV.

Nice thing about TESE is you can have it done on him multiple times if it doesn’t work the first time.

Honestly, please who have 2 or more don't really understand this feeling. It's not the same when you only have one.

So stupid. We have 4. Very grateful for vasectomy - 4 is plenty, thanks. And as an added bonus, if you ever get divorced, he can’t run off and start another family.
