What do you think of Lola for a girl?

Anonymous
I actually really like it. I worked with a Nigerian girl in college who was tall, thin and GORGEOUS! Could have been a model. She was also very nice and I thought the name suited her because it's a little exotic and unexpected. Also, I don't think kids that your DD will go to school with will know the song. . .

Her name was Lola
she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there

I think it would be hard to take someone seriously with that kind of name. It sounds like a nickname--hard to imagine it on a resume. Sort of cutesy and dingy.

Stripper.

Supreme Court Justice Lola...

Love it! My first thought also was Copacabana, but for me this doesn't detract from the name. Plus, anyone who meets someone in person, esp a little girl, will not immediately think Copacabana.

Love it and know several Dc-area kids with that name.

I think everyone should post their highest level of education and maybe HHI after their love it / hate it comments.

The Lola = no Supreme Ct. Justice hints at the issue here.

To wit: why are there so few Brandee's in upper management? Why so few strippers pick the stage name "Anne" or "Claudia" ?

Peronally love it. But my kids call their grandmother lola (filipino)

OP here.

Thanks for the comments.

I guess I should gave mentioned that we WANT her to grow up to be a stripper and not a Supreme Court justice. So I think it's perfect! LOL!

LOL! I think it's a great name. If the comments really bother you go for the nickname idea. There were good suggestions for given name here!

I like it. I can't stand boring, conventional names.

Sure, like "Annie Sprinkle". And a quick Google search of "claudia porn star" sure comes up dry.

These name threads are awesome: just license to give one's unsupported prejudices free-range. "Who the Hell would name their kid 'Peter'??? Isn't that slang for a man's genitalia!?!"
