Which all-girls school does NOT have a mean girl problem?

This definitely depends on the grade at each school. I have two girls at Holton in two different grades. Neither has had a “mean girl” experience and both are definitely not the culprit.

Quite often I see girls from their grades at NCS and think how fortunate it is that my kids picked Holton over NCS (accepted at both schools at the application year). I say that because the NCS girls seem so much less aware of others, self absorbed and cliquey. To be fair I do know one very kind, smart, and polite NCS girl.

I also see lots of SR and Holy Child girls. In those schools it’s more dependent on the grade, less of a dominant school culture. Both great girls and lemons mixed in.

This is very class dependent. My DD's freshman class at Visi is very nice. There were a couple of off putting personalities that had the potential to be queen bee A$$holes but I told my daughter to just ignore them. Paying attention to them and trying go get them to like you gives them fuel. That's exactly what she did in the beginning of the school year and those girls were leveled. But it was just a few of them,

Juniors also. The sophomores on the other hand...oi.

+1

They tend to select a great cohort of kind, supportive girls.

+1 Madeira. The drama is really low-level when it comes to social stuff (says current parent) And -- it's tough being a teen these days. I feel for all of us trying to raise smart, kind, interesting girls!!

WHAT?? No! JUNIORS HORRIBLE. And AHC support non existent when dealing with it. This is by far the worst school over when talking about mean girl culture.

I've been a parent at Cathedral schools for 11 years and currently have an US student at NCS. The mean girls thing is VERY class dependent and the mean girls aren't always who you think (PP mentioned clout and socioeconomic status and the cruelest girl I have heard about does not fit this mold). You'd be well served to speak w a variety of families but my current student has an exceedingly nice group of girls in her grade. Not everyone is besties but no one is outwardly mean to each other. Teen girls are going to be teen girls, unfortunately.

Just asked my current Madeira student if she thought her school has a mean girl problem. Her answer...No.

+1 for Madeira.

My current student has never complained about mean girls. I think the cohort they pick all has different interests and strengths, and when coupled with the MOD schedule, there's little chance for any real groups to take root anyway.

Holy Cross (AHC). Never had a problem, personally.

I think if your daughter fits the mold there and has all the right socioeconomic clout to go with it, perhaps she won’t encounter any of the “mean girl” stuff. If there are any quirks, home issues or learning concerns, there could be some bumps in the road for her at NCS. Just my two cents

This statement applies universally

I am sorry if your DD is having a bad time. My rather shy and insecure girl has been okay in that class after an absolutely awful MS experience.

Wow. Good job, Holton mom. You sound like a mean girl yourself. Makes me want to side-eye Holton, knowing it's associated with moms like you. Talk about lacking awareness... lol.

I had the same reaction to that post. I think the pendulum swings on these schools with time, and I am wondering if Holton in the prime of their post-popularity surge/ mean mom/ country club/ social scene phase.

Signed,

I don’t have a daughter at any of these schools.
