Why do non believers like to hang around here?

If I did not assume those things, I would have to assume you are just really, really stupid. But I don’t think that is the case.

Very true.

OP just woke up on a slow Saturday and decided to attack some people, with the "I'm just asking!" spiel.

+1. They are searching. Their argumentative posts are a form of foot stomping.

Religious people frequently seem to think that atheists are "searching" - presumably for religion. In fact, many atheists went through a period of searching before arriving at non-belief in religion.

Atheists haven't "arrived" at anything. Obviously. They are still searching and are clearly uncomfortable where they are.

They are either curious or volunteer to save people from scam of religion. I don't see it any different than Mormons or Jehovah's witnesses knocking at random doors.

I think atheists hanging out on the religion forum is quite different from Mormons or Jehovah's witnesses knocking at random doors.

I think an apt comparison would be atheists knocking on random doors for the purpose of converting people to atheism which you never see.

Times have changed, guess these are the doors now.

I'm not religious, but I think religion is interesting - i.e., why people believe, what they believe, religion's role in history and the current political landscape, etc

No. Mormons or Jehovah's witnesses are still knocking at random doors - something atheists never do.

It's the Religion Forum. Where people discuss religion. There is no faith requirement to discuss religion, last time I checked.

This question is posed every year by strange people like you. It makes you look... not very intelligent.

We understand you don’t like religion so just go away.
Instead of posting so many stupid things here.

PP you replied to. I love religion, which is why I post. Also, I'm culturally Catholic.

I will defend anyone's right to post, as long as they're not overwhelmingly nasty.

***It is important that this forum welcomes all faiths, as well as atheists and agnostics!!!***

Correct,
But when the majority of posts in religion section are taken over by non believers it loses its meaning.
It’s will be like Restaurant and food section being taken over by people who like to talk about dieting.

In your mind, perhaps. Atheists are not searching for God. In some cases, they once did, and determined, often through study of religion, that he wasn't there. In other cases, they never believed in God, despite that fact that other people around them did. In some cases, their family didn't teach them to believe in God, so they never did.

If we keep church and state separate, non believers may feel less inclined to challenge other people’s religious beliefs. But I think people are rightly worried about this right now.

Wrong. You’re trolling again to get a hot response, but everyone can see right through you.

Agreed. Except I also believe there are other insidious harms of religious beliefs.

Whose fault is that?

Could it be the religious, because of their inability to logically defend their position? Or, more likely, their desire to avoid the facts and evidence, or lack thereof?

I’m “just asking”. lol. Since that is a theme of this thread.

No. No one lives here. If these are “doors”, they are open ones with signs that say “come in and share your thoughts, that’s what this place is for and how it thrives”. Not at all like knocking on someone’s residence.

They don’t have to logically defend their faith.
No body is preaching to you here.
If I am asking specific question about Jesus from the gospel I want Christians to answer it or people who know about it.
I don’t want majority posts to be Jesus didn’t exist.

A lot of atheists understand Christianity better than the Christians themselves.

In some ways, that's a drawback but isn't religion about letting people in so they may see the light? Keeping them out would be policing the religion.
