But to what end?

They have disrupted too much and sending people into offices with no ready infrastructure to do their jobs…zero transition. Work is being lost not made more efficient if they were left to continue at home until things were in place. Now add in off e rent etc

To be clear, DOGE is a real part of the government.

Obama created the US Digital Service as a sort of internal consultant to improve tech use and efficiency in the executive branch. One of Trump’s first executive orders was to rebrand the US Digital Service as DOGE and expands its mission scope.

Thus, that’s why they are being let in.

And even though DOGE isn't a real part of the government, they're allowed in because they're working with the people at the very top, who can make these big decisions. It's not about being qualified; it's more about following the orders from the highest authority.

Remember, this is very grown-up stuff, and sometimes the reasons adults do things might seem confusing or unfair, just like when you have to share your toys with someone you don't like.

One doesn't do an audit by letting a bunch of untrained "tech whizzes" into the mechanics of federal systems. I mean, there are highly paid big consulting firms with millions of dollars contracts who are doing actual audits and developing new software systems for government agencies.

What DOGE is doing is running in and capturing data on every American taxpayer and user of the federal systems. That isn't an audit, that isn't 'streamlining" anything and it undercuts any sort of process to federal work.

1) he didn't hire 87,000 new people. The congress authorized the hiring and replacement of IRS employment levels to standards from decades ago. The result of the people who were hired was the recapture of billions of dollars from tax cheats. Do you think people should get away with being a tax cheat? If not, without a properly staffed IRS, how do you conduct reviews and enforcement?

2)And audit is a technical term and a real process. What DOGE is doing are not actual audits. The word is being bastardized so people like you conflate the legitimate actions of the IRS and what DOGE is doing.
