Yes, Hugh Grant looks old…but he’s so adept at playing this role that it doesn’t matter. His sex appeal is intertwined with his arrogant confidence.

? It is what it is. You can't really get new actors for these roles.

Nobody suggested getting new actors.

Perhaps use older kids?

Perhaps don’t use a baby-faced actor for the “boy” unless you doll Renee up a bit?

Zero chance a twenty-something would go after a 55 year old woman in mom jeans and unbrushed graying hair. Completely unrealistic.

Lies. Also "mom jeans" is a style that has been popular/cool for years now. Get with the times.

Oh, please, just because she hasn’t been tweaked to death like Nicole Kidman! And of course you give a man a pass.

Why!!! I’m 55 with a 10 and 12 year old !

The kids in the movie are 6 and 10.

I thought it was quite good plot-wise, funny and touching in equal measure. Leo Woodall is gorgeous so the movie had that going for it as well. Bridget’s hair was distractingly bad.

It was better than I expected

I liked it but I thought Bridget was the worst part. I feel the same way about RZ’s portrayal of Bridget as I do about SJP’s portrayal of Carrie in And Just Like That. These actresses are playing characters their own age, yet they both interpret “grieving” as “walking, talking and looking like they’re seventy”. Very strange. In the scene where Bridget walks to the dinner at the beginning of the film, she’s waddling and moving her head around like she’s blind, and her voiceover sounds like a drunk Judi Dench. I liked the supporting characters and the script was good, but I don’t know what RZ was doing.

I could tolerate the 20- or 30-something RZ who was trying to figure out how to pull her work life and dating life together.... just figuring out how to be an adult.

But, I couldn't stand 50-something RZ playing the same empty-headed, confused about life schtick. And the fake English accent. UGGG!

I think the story line was good enough -- they just needed to put someone else in the lead role, or make RZ grow up a bit and have more marbles in her head.

Honestly, at 25 min. in, I didn't think I could take anymore. But, I suffered through it while looking at my phone, and then the last half hour wasn't too bad. They didn't give enough explanation of how the teacher overcame his extremely overbearing personality.

Also, not believable that a 6 yr old child who has no memory of even having a father (b/c he died when she was 2), would go around asking every man if he is going to be her father. She wouldn't even care about having a father b/c she never knew having a father at the age of 2.

On the whole, I just can't relate to a character like BJ who is squinty and fake accenting, and still confused about pretty much everything at the age of 50-something. It's no longer "cute" or "endearing" -- it's just tiring.

I absolutely loved it and cried a few times. Adored the new love interest she ended up with.

I don’t care how old the kids are or how old Bridget looks… it’s nice to see a real woman who is having relationships with men of different ages.

After dating in my 40s, this is more true to real life than the many movies which have old men paired with gorgeous women half their age! I had lots of young guys after me for flings which I didn’t take them up on.

The fling with the young guy wasn’t unrealistic at all. I know people are complaining that Hollywood is trying to make older women/younger men a thing, but it’s always been a thing.

The only funny parts involve Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson—because they are talented actors who do comedy well.

Leo Woodall has a weird face. He got lucky with One Day but he’s just not hot enough for this role.

The actor she ends up with is Darcyesque but doesn’t exude any sex appeal or chemistry with Zellwegger.

Why can’t she get her hooded eyes fixed? At this point I’m convinced she’s actually squinting on purpose.

Anyway, they should have ended the movie with her getting back with Grant. There’s chemistry there—even if it’s mostly Grant carrying the scenes.

It they could have made Zellwegger look more pulled together—perhaps after a fun makeover scene—when she met the “boy.” And perhaps cast a young guy who was a bit like Darcy or Daniel. If the latter, it would have been a good storyline to have Daniel point out the boy is just like he was in his younger days and then have him pursue her. Daniel could ultimately be the “boy.”

Hollywood stinks these days.

lol, not hot enough. Try telling that to his smoking girlfriend, who he met on set of White Lotus - Meghann Fahy.

I laughed, I cried. Worth a watch.

Saying goodbye to her Dad got me. Had to pause the movie and listen to the last voicemail my Dad ever left me and cry the big, fat tears. The bedtime scene got me again and the son singing really turned on the waterworks. Now that I'm 55, I'm in close touch with these life stages.

And yes, the younger man/middle aged woman is a real thing. I have one that I can't believe is into me. But he is. In his 30s, not 20s. And he doesn't wish for a time machine either.

Hugh Grant still has it. A bit icky, but I'd answer his call.
