predictions schools closed Wed Feb 12?

Wrong call MCPs for Tuesday. Read that last bit. They need qualified lawyers on their team. "Have instructed bus drivers to...impede visibility"? So all those other announcements/calls saying they need to make sure 13,024 bus stops are safe(r) to safely open out of abundance of caution and now putting this on bus drivers.

Super dangerously cold! It might even drop below freezing!

So snow will stick after all, before regular dismissal?!!

Well, no, but it is still dangerously cold for people that go outside naked.

Right? Makes no sense

Hey Mr Moderator!

His name is Jeff, he's the owner of DCUM, and you can contact him directly by posting on Website Feedback.
He probably locked the other thread because it wasn't getting anywhere, and, just so you know, MCPS is doing a full day today (with cancelled after school activities, I imagine).
Snow isn't accumulating until 5pm according to most recent models. It's plenty of time for even tier 2 elementary buses to drop off kids in their neighborhoods.

Duh.

Just like you so did the other posters, that's why this thread when CO doesn't send out message, it's all posters did - imagine.

Now THAT's a word salad.

What are you trying to say?

What are you trying to say is a word salad?

This is the word salad. Have no idea what she means: "Just like you so did the other posters, that's why this thread when CO doesn't send out message, it's all posters did - imagine."

I would say closed tomorrow but who knows anymore.

That message was completely mental. Anticipating limited visibility? Telling buses to drive slowly? That's basically admitting in advance that they know conditions could be dangerous. Did their lawyers approve that? Probably everything will be fine but this is totally out of line with every other school system in the area and OPM so if even one minor thing happens, they are going to be out on an island and strung up for regional ridicule. All risk for no reward.

The inconsistency in decision making between the 2-hour delay called 48 hours in advance, and this, is a total clown show.

Pick up your kid early if you're concerned. Next thing you know you'll be saying we need to close because of rain.

"please plan to pick up your child close to dismissal"? What is close to? 1 hour, 30min prior, 2 hours??

Conditions that cause you drive below the speed limit are not necessarily dangerous. That's the point of driving below the speed limit.

Just because you don't know how to exercise common sense while driving doesn't mean no one can. Do better.

Because somebody will slip on the snow on the grass? Or the bus's wipers aren't working?

Odd response when the pp wanted school to close early for everyone.

No need to screw up things for everyone because a few people are scared of water.

They are trying to make it up (after that un-delaying) to working parents to allow those parents to make it back from work in time to pick up own kid.
