Plus one The insistence on referring to Happy Christmas rather than Happy Holidays is an evangelical culture wedge issue. We just say happy holidays as we have quite a number of Jewish/ Hindu/ atheist friends. I am much more worried that the guy in the White House is the one with anti-Christian, vengeful, undemocratic agenda. |
Exactly. Hypocrites through and through. |
I am a Christian and echoing this. The types screaming about anti Christian bias are upset they can't force their very specific form of conservatice evangelical Christianity on everyone else. There's no bias, they want total and complete control and to force other religions out.
I grew up in the south and was actually harassed by the evangelical types for being the "wrong" kind of Christian. Not one person of another faith has ever done that to me. |
But if you tell people that not religious at all any more, then people from other Christian denominations will harass you to become religious again, assuring you that you'll go to hell if you don't. Jews generally don't bother non-religious people, because Jews tend to be atheists themselves. |
:D This happened to me too. I was the target of one person for an extended time who kept trying to "convert" me even though I kep telling her i was a devout Christian and tried to speak to her as a fellow believer. Made me realize what non- Christians must feel like. What a turn-off. |
I think they have quotas that they have to meet to be considered a good Christian. If they don't have bonafide atheists to go after, they'll settle for the wrong kind of Christian. |
Not all Christians are fake. I am a Christian and can see how these methods to play Find The Bias can easily backfire against Christians. I freely admit I am biased against homosexuals, transgenders, and people sporting tattoos looking like a dumpster covered in graffiti. All things being even I would not hire these people if another candidate was available. There are probably situations where a Christian would not be hired. Everyone has bias. What I am curious to see is what will happen when this bias is found. Prosecuting bias is similar to accusing someone of a thought crime. That is why I said if I were an atheist I would be concerned because I can see this blowing up into a witch hunt to find someone with bias. The legal shenanigans used to find this bias could later be used against Christians or, God forbid, against the Jews again. |
As someone raised Christian the people pushing me away from the church aren't atheists or people of other faiths, it's so called Christians like Trump. They're like the bog of eternal stench and it's hard to want to be associated with the religion anymore. I was raised in a church that was heavy on biblical scholarship and independent study so I'm aware of how much they've perverted the faith. |
🤡 |
What church would that be? |
I wonder if the persecution complex was started by televangelists as a way of raising money to fight back.
Falwell, Baker, Robertson... |
Not pp, but it could be any of the denominational protestant churches, e.g., Episcopalian, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian. |
I know you're probably being sarcastic, but no...evangelicals have a type of fervor that is quite dangerous in my opinion. This fervor, combined with their hubris, makes a very dangerous combination. My famiiy has been severely harmed by evangelicals we know, and since this happened to us I have learned more and more about what they want in this country, and we should all be concerned. They are not happy even when others are "just christians".. YOu have to be THEIR kind of chrisitan and their kind of christian usually believes that they have been given "dominion" over the world and try to work towards that goal to please their lord and savior. They are working in many areas of our country to fulfill what they think their lord wants, and that is to turn this country into a christian nation. |
I'm curious in what ways they have perverted the faith? The evangelicals I know are following the bible to a "T", which is what makes them so abhorent to me. And of course, by extension, what makes the words in the bible abhorent to me also. I have learned some verses, as they were used against my family in horrifically painful ways to sever previouslly loving relationships, and those words are actually IN the bible. I agree with your opinion about the "bag of eternal stench" though. |
I'm glad they are setting this up. It is SO hard to be Christian in this county and celebrate your holidays, or even find stores open on Sundays. /s |
