MONA or any of the Arlington facebook groups. My two girls are at ATS and we love it. |
Very possible. Though you might have to wait until the middle of the year. |
For K, there’s a good chance. Other grades? No |
both my kids went to ATS. I met a kid who was number 11 who got in but knew a 13 who didn't. So it's a maybe but it'sprobably going to come down to the wire...late summer. IF this is K. If it's no K, the waitlist usually moves by a few spaces. In my case, my older child got in for a higher grade with w/l #4. |
Absolutely. If you are not excited about this but rather crowdsourcing this "decision" give up the spot to somebody who will cherish it. |
Take your time. I don’t know why people fight over this mediocre public elementary. What makes it mediocre, you ask? While it may have good test scores while the kids are in elementary, there’s is no measurable difference in how ATS students perform when they get to middle school. Just as “meh” as the others. If you’re in SA, take it. If you’re in NA and districted for one of the higher-performing schools, I don’t know if I would. The bus comes REALLY early for ATS, and having your kid’s friends spread all over the county is a real downside. Going to school with all of your neighborhood buddies is better. |
Hi, we are #7 on waitlist for Pk3 Primary Montessory. Is there generally a lot of mouvement on the waitlist? |
“High performing” NA schools. You mean schools where the parents are rich & educated. |
Your jealousy is showing. Look, as some one in a similar spot, I didn’t seriously think we could get in through the lottery and so I didn’t fully research what it would mean. The chances were so slim - literally winning then lottery. So I didn’t do as much to prepare so I didn’t get our hopes up. And here I am. |
Disagree. Had significant remediation for kid who went to ATS for dyslexia and had to pay for it for the child who didn't go to ATS. (went to NA school with something like 4% FRL.) Also, my kid's friend group is still close and international which is really cool. |
One of my kids went to ATS and the other is still there. Also, my kid won another lottery so I'm not jealous. I'm greatful to ATS for all they did and my older kid is thriving at their lottery school. |
Yep. I’m not saying it’s right, but it’s the truth. |
I’m driving all over the county for play dates. Kinda jealous of my neighbors who only have to walk down the street. 😆 |
How much movement would we expect for WL IB |
Yes, I work at a school with Montessori and there are often people who start and drop out because their kid isn’t actually potty trained or they enrolled but don’t realize that some families do have to pay tuition so they give up the spot. |
