There is no reduction in workforce whatsoever. It’s a reshuffling of resources and it’s smart. There should never be an empty classroom position while central office is fully staffed. Think about kids first |
Unfortunately, far too many people in MCPS refuse to put the kids first. Especially those in the administrative circles. |
Except the SLPs and teachers from Infants and Toddlers are direct service providers. Fewer children will be able to receive early intervention or caseloads will rise significantly |
Unfortunately, that fact doesn’t change the another real fact which is that kids start school each year. So unless more parents are wanting to stay home and homeschool, districts are still responsible for finding ways to teach students with the resources they have. And despite how difficult that might be becoming, it doesn’t stop parents from complaining about the fact that conditions in school are not ideal. Nor does it stop teachers/services providers/staff/administrators from complaining that their working conditions are not ideal. Nor does it stop politicians from creating more mandates and not funding them. |
Right. And there should be an analysis of why the classroom positions aren’t not getting filled? What’s the point of involuntary transfer if these people aren’t going to take those classroom jobs? |
| Is the new org chart up yet? |
Some of them will take classroom based jobs. Just like folks from the MVA did. Maybe some will not, but it seems likely that most of them will go back to the schools rather than give up pensions and benefits |
It’s sickening and it’s nice to see a superintendent finally doing something about it. Of course anyone in CO will come on here whining about it because they’ve been so far removed from the schools for years. |
No, the MVA admin all got jobs and some teachers and staff did but many were fired. |
I don't think so. The transfers were newer hires. It now takes 10 years to get vested. I think they are going to lose people to other counties in Maryland. Keep in mind that the demographics of the county are changing. In the case of the Infants and Toddlers staff it is just going to cost the county money because the bilingual speakers take all the Spanish speaking families which cuts down on the need to use outside interpreters. Now, the county is going to have to pay for (more) interpreter services.

| Is the new reorganization chart going to be emailed or would it be linked on the website? |
| A friend working in infants toddlers share that this was a mistake in interpreting the staffing grid. Nobody was cut from the program at all.Even more reason for the incompetency in CO to be evaluated and changed |
That's great news! They shouldn't be cut. Thanks CO! |
