So anyway, we are in the process of figuring out how to lay off most of those 100s of people, because we don’t have some big bank account with three months of payroll it in we can lend the government while they do their review. It’s unclear if they will pay us eventually, though the lawyers sure are going to be making a fortune as they argue about it.

I’m in Maryland and there are thousands of us doing similar work, in the similar boat, who live in Maryland and will potentially be out of work as soon as we can be given our 30 day notice. My organization will go from hundreds of people around the world to maybe a dozen. I hope the organization survives, as it does critical work. My job unfortunately is one that has no funding as of Friday, so I’ll be out there hunting for a job with all the rest of the laid off aid workers.

It actually says after the date of the ALDAC or related to implementing the stop work order, so wrap up or icing costs are exempted. With maybe a little wiggle room if you got your stop work notice a day later than you should have, why wouldn't it be legal?

The aid that has been halted is not going to governments, PP. Mostly it goes to American NGOs, universities and companies that then do things like distribute Malaria bednets or HIV medicine or train midwives how to prevent fistula when 12 year old girls give birth.

American NGOs promoted and aided the invasion of our country. The sex trafficking of children is now higher than ever before in human history. Children were delivered to unvetted people across America, even a dozen to the same address.
Open border policies cancelled DNA testing to verify any relationship between children and the adult (smugglers) claiming to be the parents.

I’m sorry to hear that, PP. I assume you are Guatemalan? I don’t know that I would describe that real and horrific abuse as an indictment of NGOs in general. There were for profit adoption agencies in the mix, and religious organizations, as well as governments turning a blind eye. There are evil or self serving people in every walk of life. People working in NGOs are not heroes or saints, just people doing jobs for organizations that don’t take profits.

And just a note - I am ignoring the misinformation portion of your post. It is very real (and bad enough) that in the 80’s and 90’s in particular adoption in some countries by some agencies amounted to the theft and trafficking of children.

This is not a thing. Parental/guardianship documentation is required if relying on the relationship; DNA testing has never been required. (When in history did you think DNA testing was so cheap and available that it was routinely happening at the border? Just curious. Do you think it applied to flights too?)

This, terrific opportunities for our enemies. Scary that Trump and his cabal seem to have no grasp of this.

It was actually Joe and his son who had no grasp that Communist Chinese are our enemies.
And what about the rest of America who continues to further enrich China with just about every purchase?
Kudos to Trump for incentivizing manufacturing right here in America. It’s about time.

Are you posting on the wrong thread?

No evidence to support anything above. You’re either uninformed, or part of the corruption.

If you are Guatemalan, or originally from any country that is not the USA, expect that they will come for you too and you will be sent back to your country. Just a matter of time.

At least 90% of it. That’s why it’s near impossible to get audits.

I’d like to see audits for the Lutheran, Jewish and Catholic NGOs at the border. Where are they?

Legal immigrants are mostly in complete support of rejecting illegal migrants, you know. People who break laws are criminals. Do you agree?

Most of the immigrants they are speaking about aren't in fact illegal. Anyways, wait and see. What was that old saying, "First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out for I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. ..." Lucky my family came here first so I suppose it will be a long time before they come for me!

do you think that any of these foreign aid programs will survive after the 90 day work stoppage? My relative seems to think her program will come back online after 90 days. It's a conservation program abroad and I cannot imagine that's going to survive the cut.

I think, just like at the beginning of Covid, people can't really bring themselves to believe just how bad it is going to get.

DH is a legal immigrant from Central America. He despises the left wing wackos. Loves President Trump and proudly wears his MAGA hat everywhere. He worked HARD and did it the right way.

Agree. Let US money stay in the US.

You are welcome to fly to other countries and hand out your own cash. I'm not kidding.

That's a lot of people doing that something that clearly has made the problem worse so sounds like the aid cut is a great thing.
