OPM HR government wide email test

We had guidance from our IT dept that it is real.

I called IT this morning about it and they said they'd never heard anything about OPM direct emails. And then they told me to report it as phishing.

Same. Did the random character line up with your GS grade? Or maybe I’m reading too much into this. I’m still debating whether I want to respond to the message.

Oh, yes it did

Considering it arrived at 3:16 am….

Someone was working outside of core hours. If they didn’t get that approved that’s time card fraud.

Amanda hasn’t learned about mail merge and is sending them one by one. Don’t worry, she’ll get to you!

we get annual trainings about this kind of thing. Do you want to be the one that let China attack our IT systems? I didn't think so.

Oh my god this. I’m rereading the Harry Potter books with my kid and legit wondering if this administration is taking plays from the bad guys in a children’s series.

We just got an email that this was legit.

Are you a Fed?

I got it but have not replied. Why aren’t agencies confirming to OPM the assigned email addresses? Until someone tells me I have to reply, I won’t.

It's so they can commence terrorizing us directly rather than going through chain of command

Our IT staff said the email was legitimate, but were told not to click the link and instead use a link our IT staff shared to OPM’s website about the communication test. There was no guidance on whether to reply.

We then got separate guidance from HR saying that no adverse action would occur if we responded to OPM, but no one in leadership at my agency has actually encouraged us to reply.

Very weird and not at all reassuring.
