School delayed and no sports or activities for 3 days straight just for cold weather?!?

MCPS took a full hour after announcing it to schools, to let families know. They also made it sound extremely confusing.

-be quicker
-use bullet notes
-get your crap together
-stop wimping out on us
-kids need to be in school

+1 to all of this. I'm usually pretty pro-MCPS, but this is ridiculous. A badly made, badly communicated decision.

My kid’s INDOOR band rehearsal is cancelled. What in the world? Why would you need to cancel INDOOR activities?

I just got a note that before care is opening 2 hours late tomorrow again. Did MCPS prohibit child care providers form opening on time, or is that just our provider’s choice? (They are not great about coverage so could be either.) TIA.

They cancelation was updated so evening activities run by outside groups (eg sports teams, etc) that use MCPS gyms are also canceled today. Here's the update from CUPF:

"Due to hazardous weather conditions and extreme cold temperatures, all afternoon and evening community use activities at Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will be canceled, Tuesday, January 21, 2025."

Our provider was clear that it is an MCPS decision and they are not allowed to start the program earlier.

All childcare is delayed 2 hours too. Terrible decision

It's MCPS. It may be that providers advocate for the delay but it is systemwide, not up to specific providers.
