I buy those Breyers single-serving cups — they are only 880 calories.

Focusing on high protein and macros and exercising (walking/weights) more but after dinner I crave something sweet and ice cream (which is in the house because of the kids) feels irresistible. Do I need to just take a mind over matter approach to this or is something is there something I can do to reduce these cravings? Help! I need to lose about 10lbs and build muscle.

Either just have the ice cream and make it fit your macros (weigh it, track it in an. App) or have a diet version. My hubby has Yasso or a sugar free Chobani. You could buy a ninja creami and make your own from protein drinks!

Why are you snacking at night? Did you not eat enough for dinner or are you the type who has to eat every couple hours bc a slightly empty stomach is too much to bear?

Eat more at dinner and don't keep ice cream around house. Only have it for special occasions like birthday etc. Drink herbal tea at night.

You sound judgy. Can you believe that some people may have a stronger sense of hunger than you? At different parts of my life I have felt hunger differently. When hunger is strong it is not abated with will power and herbal tea. If you can’t understand strong hunger because you’re lucky enough to not feel it, please don’t look down upon those of us who aren’t as lucky.

I've never actually craved ice cream. Ever. Chocolate yes. Ice cream...nope. And I lived in Italy for 20 years so that probably spoilt me anyway.

Not the PP; but I don't think they were being judgy. I think they were just prompting OP to ask why they're snacking - a perfectly reasonable question to explore. Know the cause of the problem to find solutions to the problem. I find that I snack more at night the later I stay up. Sometimes I'm hungry but not always. If I regularly go to bed earlier - like 11 instead of 12 - I don't have that late night snack so much.
Part of the reason for my after-dinner snacking is just habit, sometimes a craving, many times because I'm staying up longer and get hungry instead of going to sleep and sleeping right through the hunger.

I posted the question asking why OP is snacking at night. Years back I was snacking at night and I wanted to stop. Mine was a combo of habit and the fact that I was not eating enough for dinner. I gave myself a little more at dinner so I was more satiated. Nightly snacking was easier to stop and the habit just died. I do enjoy ice cream but it is just once every few months or special occasions. Needing to snack every night speaks to a bigger issue. We are not designed to eat over a 15 hour window, i.e. from breakfast to bed.

I steam a few whole sweet potatoes each weekend. Eaten cold out of the refrigerator they are creamy, sweet, and delicious. It’s been long enough that I can objectively see and feel how horrid ice cream is for me. But also: I have always loved sweet potatoes

Can't help you. I just had a klondike bar for breakfast.

Buy the kids gross flavors like cotton candy. No way am I touching that stuff.

Yasso bars! I can't stand sugar alternatives. These are delicious and do not taste like a sad substitution.

Sugar free chocolate pudding and a decent squirt of regular cool whip or canned whipped cream.

Small bit of ice cream - think the little rolled serving spoon thumb they give you at a fancy restaurant portion size.

Each of these is about 100 calories.

That's what I do- hot tea and dark chocolate or just a tiny bit of ice cream ( quality ice cream). The whole day, I'm good, but when evening rolls in- I want something sweet or salty ( like chips) and it's very hard.

Just don't keep it in the house.
