Why is Lisa Kudrow so underrated?

Does anyone remember her in Easy A as the counselor who is married to the teacher, played by the guy from Wings?

Another small but memorable part that she did very well

An sounds like you only watched a few episodes. The crushes and focus on beauty was on Rachel - not Monica or Phoebe. All had many different love interests on the show but very different personalities. Phoebe was very quirky and new age, Monica was uptight and rigid, and Rachel’s personality was centered around being pretty and men.

In person LK looks great because she has aged pretty naturally and isn’t trying to look younger than she is. Courteney Cox is very sweet but looks just awful—Baby Jane-like—up close. Jen Aniston not quite as bad but a little fake looking.

David Schwimmer weirdly must have a painting in the attic.

I don't disagree with you at all – I think part of it was that she was a little bit older and they didn't dress her in a glamorous way – she was always wearing boho, flowy, quirky stuff rather than "hot" stuff. But she's really beautiful, and I think she has aged better than both of the others because it is much more natural.

I highly recommend checking out The Comeback on HBO/Max (2 seasons). She's great in it and it's that same style of humor she brings to Friends only more of it and she has more freedom to play it out instead of having to adhere to a 3-beat-per-punchline sitcom rhythm.

Also Web Therapy which was a Showtime series based on a series of internet shorts she created around a therapist character. So funny.

Kudrow is also has a super low key and by all accounts happy marriage to a non-Hollywood guy. They've been together for 30 years. So staying out of the limelight seems to have worked out very well for her.

I found The Comeback so incredibly painful to watch!

But I love LK - and totally agree that while it must have stung in her 20s not to be considered as beautiful as her co-stars, it's probably overall a much better life. She gets to age more normally, gets to work a good amount still, has never really been the subject of incredible gossip (I'll bet she can even go out to dinner or to, like, Target without causing a stampede). Seems ideal. A working actor with plenty of money and a good marriage, whose career doesn't live or die on how she looks in a bikini.

Come on, that's not right. JA was the breakout star of Friends. She didn't get that from being married to Brad Pitt - probably she got Brad Pitt from being such a star.

I’ve always thought Kudrow was pretty in a very natural way. Loved her on Friends. And enjoy her in other roles.

But…

Perhaps because her character Phoebe is so well known, she comes across a bit like Phoebe in all her roles. I think it’s the cadence of her speech. It’s a bit stilted.

She's not conventionally pretty nor was she back then. I remember teen guys having posters of CC and JA on their walls during the initial run of Friends but never LK.

She's a brilliant actress, though, especially in The Comeback. Definitely watch it if you've not seen it. I know someone who knows her and she's also apparently really smart.
