She didn't repeatedly pose naked or nearly naked, and her Friends wardrobe didn't showcase her nipples, so the masses were less interested in her despite her superior talent.
|
| I love her. If you are a fan definitely listen to the times she was Conan O'brien's podcast. They are old friends from when they took improv classes together in LA after moving their after college. |
| She was so good as the ex-wife in The Other Woman with Natalie Portman. |

She’s amazing… I agree she’s underrated, but she’s also had a pretty fantastic career. I mean, few actors will ever achieve the financial success or iconic character recognition or critical success that she got through playing Phoebe.
I’m enjoying her in no good deeds and she was absolutely amazing in a series called “Feel Good” that I watched last year. Highly recommend. |
+1 And Jennifer Aniston got where she was because of the fame that came from being married to, and then divorced by, Brad Pitt. |
She got where she is of her own accord, not because she is linked to a man. |
I watched No Good Deed until 2 am last night...and the scene where she was older and they did the call ran through my head because she actually looks like she is aging into where she was in that movie dream sequence. I promise, I'm not saying this in a bad way. I'm glad she's allowing herself to actually age normally. I hate the way so many other actresses have just ruined their faces with that cat lady/joker lip combo. Lisa has done some great acting, and this movie is one of my faves from the Friends cast during the 90s. |

Not OP but here is a recap of LK recs (thanks as have not seen a bunch of these or heard the relevant Conan podcasts even though I did listen to him a lot during the pandemic. If I missed any please add.
The Comeback (mockunentary series she wrote and produced as well) Romey and Michelle's High School Reunion. Web Therapy Grace and Frankie. (The relevant episodes where she acted in) No Good Deed The Other Woman Also listen to Conan O'brien's podcast with her as they are old friends Thanks for the recs |
| I knew most of the cast personally for a time. Lisa and Matthew Perry were by far the smartest. Matthew was of course very troubled and Lisa was incredibly grounded. She had an actual life outside of acting. |
Plus all of the voice overs for animated cartoons - the giraffe on the Madagascar movies, etc. They all leaned so hard into their characters on Friends that the public had a hard time seeing them as other characters. |
| OP here. Appreciate all the responses but was more questioning why is her beauty so underrated. I find her just as beautiful if not more than Jen and Courtney, yet all the praise and crushes the male cast had were towards Monica and Rachel |
So interesting for you. That makes a lot of sense. Yes intelligence is important but so is having high EQ and being well grounded. So sad for Mathew - I don’t think that I could handle the pressures of being famous either. I’m sure they are all talented and had great chemistry together - but LK was my and my mother’s favorite. |
Maybe it wasn't quite as girl next door flirty cute like the other 2? That's my best guess. |
|
Lisa seems to have made the best choices all around.

Oh I don’t really care about that aspect so much - especially as they age. For me physical attractiveness is very connected to intelligence, humor and personality. I thought LK was beautiful because she was clearly smart and funny. Yes too bad about her body dysmorphia during the ten year filming of Friends. Really, most of us would be thrilled to have looked like her at that age. But in that sense LK was an everywoman since many women are way too harsh on themselves and hold themselves to impossible beauty standards. |
