Why is Lisa Kudrow so underrated?

Everyone is saying LK is pretty, and I don't see it at all. I actually find her quite unattractive. She has a very pinched face. And her characters all sound the same to me, sing-songy sarcasm plus-or-minus some added "quirkiness."

I'm watching No Good Deed right now and don't like watching her anymore than I did on Friends (although I wasn't a fan of Friends in general and didn't watch that much of it).

She was just on the Sunday Sit Down with Willie Geist, and refreshingly her face looks like a normal woman of her age. But they kept showing close up shots, which I don't think they usually do, almost like they were trying to emphasize how her face looks.

The segment was edited to give more time to the Friends discussion, which is a bit of a disservice to her current work.

She can console herself with all that Friends money. I think she’s ok.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder for sure … to me LK is attractive because she is clearly smart, quirky, and funny.

She has self depreciating humor and sense of irony ….

I think she has good comedic timing/is naturally funny.

I think she acts a certain way, but Courtney Cox always plays the same role/mannerisms and so does Jennifer Anniston. I'd be surprised if they didn't have the same tics in person as they act the same in interviews as well.

I have always thought she must by dynamic/fun in person and that her likability was apparent- because otherwise, I was always surprised she 'made it' because she has an incredibly bad nose job no one ever talks about. I guess she has discussed it/agrees it is botched- I feel badly for her- but it makes her strange to look at. I mean Jennifer Anniston has a bad nose job too but LK's is really terrible.

Yes! This is my favorite movie.

I find her such a one-note actress. She does those same weird ticks, like the head tilts and stuttered talking, in every role.

Ok....because the other thread is locked, I'll respond to the comparison to Jennifer Aniston as a one-note actress. I don't disagree! But the difference is that I like her schtick.

It's a matter of opinion, but I think she was pretty on Friends. In the first season especially, I loved her curly, big hair when her wardrobe leaned more hippy/boho than in later seasons. That look suited her and her character better than the straight hair and mainstream clothes.

Also, from what I've read, she has described her struggles with insecurity during the show not in terms of not being pretty enough but in terms of body issues. She thought CC and JA looked better in clothes and felt large compared to them.

The Comeback is coming back again, FYI. We just watched the first season for the first time ever (didn’t have HBO then) and it’s so good. Has the same uncomfortable factor as The Office at the beginning and just like Steve Carell she’s so likable and Kudrow is so good that she wins you over. And she was by far my least favorite character on Friends.

Zero talent.

Did he really need to do anything after Friends though? They certainly made their money.

HE made their money.

David Schwimmer formed the union that got them massive pay increases

Don’t forget LK also played Ursula on Mad About You! It was a very minor character, but it is where the Phoebe character in Friends originated (they are twins).

She was way too old for role at time
