Why is Lisa Kudrow so underrated?

Watched episodes of friends on the plane this week...my first time every watching it!

One thing I can't get over is how underrated Lisa's beauty is. I feel like everyone always raves about Jennifer and Courtney's beauty and they seemed to have been given all the cute outfits, relationships etc. Why was that the case?

I think LK's character wasn't that appealing--too woo woo, weird, was not part of the inner clique since she didn't live there. So she didn't draw the fans like Monica and Jennifer did based on her character.

Totally underrated. She was absolutely brilliant in “The Comeback.” If you haven’t watched that, put it on your list.

I think Kudrow likes it that way. I don't think she has any desire to have the kind of career Aniston or Cox has had. She has done very interesting work while kind of flying under the radar and not having to deal with mega fame. Also the sorts of roles she plays to not rely on her looking perpetually 30-something so she's been able to age more normally and not deal with all that pressure and criticism.

I highly recommend checking out The Comeback on HBO/Max (2 seasons). She's great in it and it's that same style of humor she brings to Friends only more of it and she has more freedom to play it out instead of having to adhere to a 3-beat-per-punchline sitcom rhythm.

Also Web Therapy which was a Showtime series based on a series of internet shorts she created around a therapist character. So funny.

Kudrow is also has a super low key and by all accounts happy marriage to a non-Hollywood guy. They've been together for 30 years. So staying out of the limelight seems to have worked out very well for her.

I agree she is underrated by the public (but she has enjoyed quite a lot of critical acclaim) - LK was my favorite actor on Friends. It is actually really hard to pull off playing a ditzy blonde if you are intelligent - which she is (graduate of Vasser).

She has been honored with many awards such as a Primetime Emmy Award in 1998 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, as well as two Screen Actors Guild Awards, one Satellite Award, one American Comedy award, and one TV Guide award for her role as Phoebe on the show. She has enjoyed a lot of critical acclaims since Friends for many shows such as her HBO mockumentary series The Comeback.

She has also been married to the same Frenchman for nearly 30 years, which is remarkable in Hollywood. She is of Eastern European Jewish heritage and was Bat Mitzvahed. I’m not Jewish but have noticed that many great comedians are Jewish.

I am not sure people tend to understand rate LK compared to Kennifer Anniston and Courtney Cox -/ but I agree that she is special.

Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry were my favorite actors in Friends, by a LOT.

He heavily supports a theater in Chicago. Not sure why since he lives in NYC.

He did the OJ story, a comedy in England, upcoming Goosebumps, stage in NYC and London, some directing. I think he looks for small projects, I don’t think he wants the Friends fame again.
