Yours aren’t invited.

Why? If it's a holiday, why is it worse than a Sunday?

Not all employers let their employees off that day. And for those that do, the point of the day is to celebrate and reflect on MLK’s legacy. It just smacks of disrespect.

No it doesn't. And I don't know any employers that dont give off mlk.

NP - DH doesn't get MLK off, he works for a defense contractor, not in DC, and they have never done it for some reason.

NP. I'm employed by a defense contractor in NoVa. We've never been given MLK as a day off. I typically end up having to take PTO because our daycare and elementary school both close.
I've worked for 3 different defense contractors over the past 22 years, and none of them have ever observed most federal holidays, including MLK.

What if I invite guests based on the content of their character?

Ask the people attending. Some parents have to work. Some kids still have regular activities.

We've never had it off either.

Yes.

Even if families volunteer, it’s likely just a couple of hours, especially for kids! It’s okay to go to a party.

Would your family have plans that would conflict with us? Perhaps traveling out of town, watching the inauguration, or doing a service project?

Screw of you shit that is the day the US dies what’s wrong with you???

Sure.

City and needing to drive?

Nope.

Same. I wouldn't go anywhere if I lived in DC but we live in the suburbs and that would be fine.

Anyone in a non-government related job will not have the day off, so a lot of kids will be in camp.

Yes, but my mom would have to take him there and pick him up, as DH and I do not have the day off.

A Trumper wouldn’t schedule a kid’s party during the second coming.

We had our 8-year-old’s party on MLK Day last year, and I think only one or two of the invited guests were unable to attend. Most came, and many said they liked the date choice.

Mine will be celebrating the orange hero

All the more reason to distract the kids.
