Sincere thanks for this, PP. It is valuable advice and I feel the compassion you possess in your words. Best of luck to all. |

This thread inspired me to see if I still had the clever email they sent our DC when they got in ED many years ago. Yep, still got it. Good luck to all - it is a special school and our DC (who's in PhD program now) wouldn't have been happier anywhere else. Hope you hear soon.
From: William & Mary <admission@wm.edu> Subject: Good Things Dear XXX: People say that good things come in small packages, but in college admissions, good things come in big envelopes. Consider this the small package, but something bigger is on its way. Be sure to check your mailbox closely in the coming days. Congratulations, and welcome to the Tribe! -- The Admission Committee |
I love this! It really is a special place. Thanks for sharing. |
I love it too and/but it’s making my heart ache for DC to know already. |
+1! It "screams" nothing! |
Thank you for sharing. That is a really nice email. Do you remember if this was sent to prompt kids to check their portal, or was there a separate email that directing them to check and this email came after? Just wondering what it means if the email announcing decisions are available does not say "good things" in the subject line. |
I think they just sent emails then, but this was almost 10 years ago so things might have changed? |
My DD got in ED1 last year and I think the email and Instagram messages just told all the applicants to check their portals. I wouldn’t read too much into how it’s phrased. Good luck! |
| My memory photo today was also my DS in his W&M sweatshirt after he got in ED a year ago. I remember is was a Tuesday last year and super early (maybe December 5th?). He was not expecting the email at all. It just said to check his portal. Good luck to all the applicants!! |

Nothing? |
They seem incredibly disorganized. |
Decisions are released in early December. It is still early December. |
Okay. But it’s now an outlier because in the last decade they have always released between the 5th and 9th. |
|
Thanksgiving fell much earlier the last two years, Nov 23rd and 24th. Late Thanksgiving this year had shifted December schedules.
Be patient, even though it’s hard. They’ve been doing this for hundreds of years and will get the word out when the school is ready! |
