W&M ED1

According to Reddit sounds like, for the first time in numerous years, William and Mary will not be releasing ED1 results during the first week of December. Does this scream increase in applications or something else?

I know for the past few years ED applications have increased every year...but maybe they'll be out tomorrow at five like normal so who knows.

A guidance councilor apparently told someone it was confirmed not this week

It will be weird if it doesn't come out tomorrow.

They said yesterday on Instagram that they "hope to have decisions available by mid-December!". Very late compared to the usual timeline

And on the website it says ED1 applicants will be notified "Early Dec." so it is a change. Very strange. Will be curious to see the #s.

Realistically all we have is that either they'll come out at 5 tonight or another week of waiting. Wish W&M released unofficial numbers like UVA did, usually ED numbers aren't shared until January which is a long wait

DD got in ED a couple years ago (thank goodness, her academic peers were flat out denied in RD. And she loves it there). Anyway, the process was more transparent than for many schools. They gave about a 48 hour heads up as to the date and time of admissions decisions posting. And did most mass communication on IG. If they are revising from early December to mid December, then it will be next week. As the GPA and test scores for WM continue to rise and they continue to value demonstrated interest, it would not surprise me if they had another big bump in the number of ED apps. Or, maybe they lost a could have AOs, or had computer issues.

At any rate, I would seriously doubt they drop ED decision tonight with no heads up, after posting it would be mid Dec instead of early December. But the college essential shuts down 12/18, so I’m sure they are hustling to get them out the end of next week. I’d look for an email middle of next week announcing a decision release a week from today COB.

BTDT and I know the extra week of waiting stinks. But a benefit of ED is that they are looking at fewer applications and are able to take more time with each and get a better picture of your kid as a whole. So in the end, be grateful if they are taking the time they need to give your kid a fair evaluation rather than rushing through apps.

And good luck to future members of the Tribe!

Last year they released without any announcement or warning so it may be the same this year. Admissions said in an Instagram comment that there would be no announcement this year. Maybe tonight but not holding hopes up.

Just hopping on to say that I'm wishing very good luck (and acceptance) to everyone on here who is sweating it out. I remember that feeling very well. If you kid does get in, congratulations and I hope it turns out to be a great fit. And if your kid doesn't then I hope it is because there is something even better waiting for them at the end of this process.
