| On Instagram they said they hope to have them out by mid December |
WM parent. Rumor is another jump in ED applications. But they are doing Yule Log this weekend and exams end next Tuesday (why does my kid always have one the last day !?!?). Campus is shutting down. They will have it out by Friday, I’m sure. I know it’s frustrating. I’ve BTDT. But you want them to take the time they need with your kids application to give a thoughtful decision. |
They've had ED applications go up every single year, they probably got a few more than expected and need a little more time. It's not like they can double the # of people in the admissions office overnight to help with reading. They'll come out eventual |
Sounds normal to me. |
I mean it's not if even their website is wrong about when they're supposed to drop |
They updated early December to mid-December on IG, which is how they communicate admissions info. So stop expecting early December. My kid has a 12/8 release for Class of 2026. It’s the 9th. I ‘m sure they will out by Friday. Lots of reasons they could be delayed 3-4 days. Including an unusually large # of apps. Under the my kid has a friend working in admissions 3rd hand gossip, the number of ED apps was unexpectedly high. Look— the secret is out. The stats of incoming students are identical to UVAs. And there are fewer seats at WM. Top kids are now EDing WM or UVA if they have an instate budget. WM is a niche school, but increasingly hard to get into. And ED is perceived as giving you an edge at WM. Kids who really want WM for the public price, small size, LAC feel, etc. know they need to apply ED. It’s not a surprise the ED #s are going up every year. If they have even one AO out on medical leave or the high number of apps gossip is real, it’s going to take a few extra days. And their student interns are in finals and not available. I know it’s hard. BTDT, but getting so worked up about a delay of a few days doesn’t help you. And more importantly, it doesn’t help your kid. Plus— if they are either down an AO or have more apps than expected, then you can have it fast or you can have it right. Since there will be more Nos than Yeses— which do you want— fast or right? Remember well publicized incidents of other colleges over the years sending out the wrong letters to the wrong kids and having to rescind acceptances? That’s what fast gets you. Today you want fast. Long term, you want right. |
That's the point I was making, this is unusual and is obviously a sign of something (probably a lot more applications). |
+1 |
The lecturey tone here as though you speak from authority is unnecessary and offputting. Obviously we know there must be a valid reason for the delay, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating that they didn’t just come out with a post that acknowledged they know everyone is expecting early December, but it’s going to be a bit longer than we expected. Making a vague post on Instagram that it will be mid-December without addressing that this is a change and without updating the info on their website leads to confusion and more frustration. The process is stressful annd it’s better to post anonymously in camaraderie with other waiting parents on a mom and dad message board than add to our kids stress. And we’re just venting here because we dint have control over it and venting in like company makes the process feel less isolated. And it’s probably only about 5-6 people here on this particular thread anyway. Confused about why it affects you and why you don’t just scroll on rather than feel obligated to take up the role of admissions office defender/ spokesperson/apologist. It’ll all be behind us by next week. |
Yeah. You’re not too wound up. At all. |
OMG. Someone is very, very full of themselves.

+ a million The PP is so patronizing and sanctimonious. |
| DP: I think we are being a little too dramatic here lol |
| Yes—naturally we are being dramatic. No harm in that. |
