| Discussing the high school football playoffs without mentioning Hayfield cheating is like discussing the Kennedy administration without mentioning how it ended. |
I think Madison can beat Hayfield. Size - Madison Coaching - Even Speed - Hayfield I give Hayfield the edge simple because I don’t think Madison can get enough stops. Overton jr is a nightmare once he gets past the 2nd level for DBs to tackle. |
Sorry, no one can dictate what people do or don't post. There is simply no way to discuss the playoffs without mentioning that Hayfield should not be there. |
| Madison will beat W&L in a somewhat close game (10pts or so). Hayfield will crush Madison. Too much speed. Madison has had issues dealing with Westfield’s speed this year and Hayfield is much more athletic and fast than Westfield. |

We're bumping the thread to discuss tomorrow's games. Please keep the train wreck to the train wreck threads.

We need some clarity on what's happening with match-ups
West Springfield v. Lake Braddock Fairfax v. no one (Fairfax bye?) or Edison v. Fairfax??? |

This scandal at Hayfield Secondary is a disturbing reflection of a deeper problem within FCPS. The alleged illegal recruiting practices, exploiting homelessness, and prioritizing financial gain over ethics are bad enough. But when members of the school board, who are supposed to oversee and safeguard the integrity of our schools, may be complicit in this potential crime, it becomes a much larger issue of systemic corruption.
Cheating through illegal recruiting undermines the integrity of high school athletics, teaching students that winning at any cost is acceptable. Even worse, lying about a child’s homelessness—a status protected by the McKinney-Vento Act—is a federal offense. This system exists to protect vulnerable students, and abusing it for athletic or financial gain is not only unethical but could have serious legal consequences for FCPS. With 51% of our tax dollars funding a $3.8 billion school budget, the community deserves transparency and accountability. If the school board and Superintendent Michelle Reid are aware of or supporting these actions, as reports suggest, they are failing their duty to uphold the law and protect students. Their actions—or lack thereof—erode trust in the very institution they are elected to serve. This isn’t just about a football team or one athletic director; it’s about a system that may be prioritizing personal ambition and financial incentives over the welfare and education of students. FCPS must take immediate and genuine action to investigate these allegations and hold everyone involved accountable, including school board members. Anything less is a betrayal of the students, parents, and taxpayers who expect integrity from their public officials. |

I'm one to say Lake Braddock should get a bye, and Fairfax plays West Springfield
That said, the players and coaches have been prepping for different opponents since last Friday so I'm not sure that'd be absolutely fair But Fairfax bye into the Final also is silly too. |
| Is someone from Hayfield administration is complicit in illegally funneling athletic department and donor money to their coach in order to bribe them to come to their school? Does Reid need to look into if there were tax dollars diverted away from other school activities that wound up in Overton or the AD's pocket? |
If that were all true, then the answer is no. It would a crime, so pcps would lead, like any other crime. |
Fairfax is ready to play a scheduled opponent that cannot play , Fairfax should get the win by forfeit. But does it really matter ? Everyone assumed in was going to be LB vs WS for region (w/o Hayfield) , so they play one game early. |
Coaching is even? Please. Madison's staff is legit. Overton gets exposed in every game he coaches against quality opponents when his (illegally recruited) athletes arent INSANELY more talented/bigger/stronger/faster than those lining up against their opponents. |
I am stealing this line. Thank you so much. |
Lying about being homeless for personal gain is also a crime. Just sayin' |
