This thread is about the actual games being played

Would Madison or Westfield match up well against hayfield?

Is that a plausible playoff game down the road here?

No regular team of in boundary kids can match up fairly against a team of all stars recruited from three different states.

West Springfield and Edison are the only schools that scored against them.

West Springfield is the only school that kept Hayfield under 50 points (48-7) and had the smallest point spread against them.

I don’t think either of those teams is as good as Hayfield, but they have a chance, and I won’t be surprised if Hayfield gets upset before the championship.

It’s unfortunate what is happening to Hayfield this season with all the jealous outsiders trying to get in the way of football.

Do you mean the 31 outsiders who transferred in specifically to play football, who displaced real Hayfield players off the team? Yes. It is very unfortunate when adults ruin kids sports.

I don't know . . . we're a West Springfield football family. We have a couple really great players, including an excellent running back, and a fantastic coaching staff, but that game you're referencing was a scrimmage and I'm not sure it's a great indicator.

But, we did lose to South County in our first game of the season and last night we handily defeated them, so maybe we've improved.
I don't think we'll get past Lake Braddock - it will probably end up being up to them as the school to defeat Hayfield if anyone does.

Where did you get 31 from? Only 14 players were in questioned and all have been cleared.
These kids are very talented and most have a chancee to play D1 in College, why hate on the players and families who are looking for the future of their, otherwise unprivileged, kids.

Full disclosure (I started this thread and am a former WSHS teacher)

I am so excited for the program that you won last night. Even if WSHS doesn’t win in the next round that’s such a big monkey to get off the programs back and will certainly build long term confidence. It’s been a long time coming and to take soco (even a meh team) in the playoffs is just awesome.

It's exciting! First varsity win against SoCo in 14 years!!! Coach Parker is really great. And we had a pretty good turn out considering the cold, wet weather.

Since your an expert. Did they move into the district or not? Do you hold the same animosity to parents do move within a specific school boundary for academics?

The VHSL identified at least 24 football transfers. They didn't all come from Freedom.
