What are your expectations for the newly elected BOE members: Montoya, Zimmerman, Stewart? Along with remaining BOE members, what do you think the new Board's priorities need to be?

School safety and security?
More or better tech course offerings?
Later school start times?
Four day week school with one day for check-ins, as happened during virtual learning?

This, folks, is why friends don't let friends vote MCEA. We're going to be hearing nutty ideas like 4 day schools weeks and later bell times for the next four years. And we're going to have to listen to complaints about safety/security while any plausible proposal is accused of being racist.

This person is making stuff up to cause trouble. MCEA isn't asking for this stuff.

They have before. They were behind 4-day school weeks before. Why wouldn't you expect them to push for something similar if given the chance?

During pandemic virtual classes only.

It wasn't limited to just when classes were virtual. Why wouldn't you expect them to want to bring it back?

They can't completely bring it back immediately because of state law, but they could try to add a bunch of early release days.

You're incorrect.

Every statement was true. 4 day weeks were not limited to virtual classes. Maryland law requires 180 school days, and MSDE does not allow "asynchronous" virtual days (i.e., days off with homework) to count as a virtual day. That leaves early release days. When MCEA talks about getting more prep time, they're effectively adovcating for early release days, as they're not trying to add more service days.

Or, they could just be asking for one more free period a day.

Where would first graders go for the second block of time?

Are you really out of touch. There is lunch, recess, specials. Or, you could volunteer

So are you saying elementary teachers shouldn't get more prep time?
