BOE

Mr Mod locked the other thread BOE election.

What are your expectations for the newly elected BOE members: Montoya, Zimmerman, Stewart? Along with remaining BOE members, what do you think the new Board's priorities need to be?

School safety and security?
More or better tech course offerings?
Later school start times?
Four day week school with one day for check-ins, as happened during virtual learning?

I have zero expectations at this point.

Why would we have a four day school week?
Why would we have later school times?
It would be nice to have higher level math and sciences at all HS but its not going to happen.
Safety and security is not going to happpen either.

I would like them to prioritize safety and security and Taylor says he is doing. That would mean serious restructuring and some unpleasant conversations.

Many offices have already moved to four day work week. And they remain work from home. Why can't students and teachers go to a four day week too?

A) parents would have to take care of their own kids which they proved they don't want to
B) a lot of companies are RTO
C) they need a specific amount of days in school and 4 day a week wouldn't work
D) if you want a 4 day a week, homeschool.

Taylor hasn't done anything.

The BOE is so weak that I have zero expectations that anything will change no matter who is on it.

No they are not.

Schools can continue housing outside school hours care programs for families who can not look after their kids or who don't want to-can afford it.

Is this a troll? No, four day work weeks are not common. Employers are requiring people to come in to work, and where there are still allowances for telework, you're not allowed to be caregiver while claiming to work.

This, folks, is why friends don't let friends vote MCEA. We're going to be hearing nutty ideas like 4 day schools weeks and later bell times for the next four years. And we're going to have to listen to complaints about safety/security while any plausible proposal is accused of being racist.

This person is making stuff up to cause trouble. MCEA isn't asking for this stuff.

They have before. They were behind 4-day school weeks before. Why wouldn't you expect them to push for something similar if given the chance?
