Apple Ballot has run BOE for decades. |
Voters should have prioritized supporting our students, but obviously a lot of people are happy to vote against their interests. |
Yes, the MCEA deceptively conceals the process by which the Apple Ballot is decided, while claiming it's the educators' choice. |
Considering your reading comprehension level, let's just say I'm glad that no one who was on the BoE when you were educated in MCPS is currently serving. |
As a MCPS parent my interests are around retaining my child's fantastic teachers. Without the teachers we have nothing. MCEA (the teacher's union) is by no means perfect, but they are the institution that advocates for teacher raises each year. While you can certainly argue their efforts haven't been enough, I'm glad they have at least gotten that in contrast to other places where teacher salaries are far worse (and the longer you go without raises the harder it is for the budget to catch up). And when I have actually read about the candidates without looking at the Apple Ballot, I've often chosen the candidates they chose (but not always). Unfortunately, with few exceptions, the alternatives to the Apple Ballot are horrible IMO and I'm not willing to vote for them. |
You prematurely say the new BOE members are a disaster and worse than the current members, and hope voters learn from this. Sounds like you have your mind made up and aren't willing to give them a chance. |
Very true. |
| My candidates won. |
You are very happy with the status quo. |
Three incumbents losing is not exactly the status quo. |
And if everyone voted Apple ballot things would be 100x better. |
| What did the outgoing members say since they didn't win? Relieved to be exiting?? |
Doesn't Harris have political aspirations? Or was that someone else? |
They'll give their farewell remarks on December 2nd. |
Except if you're a student, parent, or taxpayer. |
