To be fair, the email that went out to players probably said FREE bc those receiving the email already paid to attend tryouts. So someone just reposted an email. On the website it’s $80 bc you pay that if you have t already come to a tryout with them before. At least that would be my guess. |
But that is their answer to those players—is it not? A club can choose to not extend an offer to former players for any number of reasons. This can include that their level of play did not show growth or if the club was able to retain players with stronger skills and they need to round out the team with other players at that level OR there could be an attitude issue or parent issue or any number of things. In this case, it’s probably better for everyone if the club director were to provide direct feedback—and in the case of VE I’m surprised if that isn’t happening. |
Thx for posting this.
Dd is so upset she didn't make it on and now we are desperately scrambling. Unfortunately, it's a narrow field since a lot of the places listed are too far (Maryland, Chantilly, Manassas). |
An email from metro- regarding their regional teams still looking for players for the following teams:

X-Factor is having their final makeups/callbacks tonight 8-9:30pm at the Franconia Rec Center for 16/17. Doesn't have the Metro name but we like the coaches, players and parents there. |
They always do this, always. |
There was a separate thread about this last year. My player was a victim in this shenanigans and it was so hurtful and unprofessional. And I still have not gotten my refund for the clinics I paid for that they canceled 1 week before try outs (where they told all their former players sorry but we aren't going to be a club anymore after all, 1 week before tryouts). Unreal. |
I agree. My daughter (new to vb) played there two seasons ago. She’s since moved for logistical reasons but strongly considered returning. Excellent coaching, good practice facilities and the players and families are very nice. |
Vienna Elite just announced a new “gray” team for 15/16s which will be a step above rec but below their regional and national teams. Comprised of nine 15s and nine 16s. Will play local one day tournaments TBD and have rotating coaches from the travel program. Tryouts tomorrow. |
How to put a complaint in to CHRVA about a club giving my daughter an offer yesterday, but then giving another girl the offer BEFORE the 10pm deadline last night.
|
Did they rescind your daughter’s offer before 10 pm? Did you accept the offer? Can’t follow what happened. |
Sounds like they didn’t give her kid a chance to accept or decline before 10 pm. |
Yes, they did. My daughter was sent an offer at 3pm yesterday. We declined an offer from her previous club and tried out at this new club. We didn't hear from the new club on Monday. So, Tuesday we spent looking for a club to tryout at. The new club sent my daughter an offer at 3pm, we didn't notice. The new club sent an email at 6pm asking if she had any idea yet. We were getting ready to tryout somewhere and getting dinner. I have four kids, it was chaotic and I forgot to email back. The tryouts ended at 9:30pm, my daughter spent time making a decision. We accepted the offer, with the "new club", filled out the document, paid and sent and email.. all before 10pm. We got an email at 10:06pm that they sent the offer to another girl around 9:50pm because they hadn't heard from us and that usually mean that the player declined and he had to look out for his team. Uh.. What?! If 10pm hit and you didn't hear from us, you still could have sent the offer to the next girl. He said my daughter could stay, but she would be third string and wouldn't play much. |
Ugh. That stinks. Glad she can stay. Maybe if she impresses then she’ll play more.
They should have sent another message checking in. But I guess you also should keep the communications open. Let them know you would absolutely let them know by 10. This process can be bonkers. |
