I don’t think you have any grounds for a chrva complaint here. He said she still has the offer and can stay. That’s all he has to offer. |

Technically they're honoring your acceptance by giving you the spot. Can you take a look at the terms of the agreement you signed? The acceptance paperwork I signed online yesterday that I am accepting a spot with the club, not a specific position, and not playtime. |

I think the string number is decided based on skill anyway. If you are string #3 and develop faster/better than string #2, the coach would reevaluate their game strategy. If your DD was sent an offer and the other girl was an alternate, your DD is likely better. Just take the offer and ask your DD to do her best. |
Wow, that's very specific. Please don't put anything specific in this anonymous online forum, as you won't want to be identified. I meant just to look at the terms on your own to figure out what you agreed to, etc. No need to put it all up here online. |
Also, if you're third string in a 6-2 offense, that means that there are 2 setters on the court at the same time. So you're really the backup for 2 setters, so in a way you're second string. Or 1.5 string? |
To contribute to the original purpose of this thread, Rockville Volleyball Academy (RVA) is holding makeups today, Thursday and Friday for anyone who is still looking for a club. |
This process is not good for the clubs, it's not good for the players |
Please be careful if you do end up with Maryland juniors. They have had so many players leave them this season which is why they are scrambling. All they care about is getting their money and athletes are nothing but pawns for them. They lost half teams (both boys and girls) this season. Most players that are playing there are doing so either because they are the "chosen" ones by the coaches or as we all know logistics and driving time etc. for parents. They treat players and parents very badly and have no value for anyone. If you do decide to go there please make sure you do some research on the coach because the club will not a single thing to help you if you are having issues once your are on a team - its a vicious culture. |
Just wanted to come here to share that we know of a U16 player who is very good but got only one offer they didn't want to accept after experiencing the club's tryout environment, then went to a Monday "Hail Mary tryout" (my term, not any club's term/name!) at an in-demand team and was offered (and accepted) a spot. I know we all know many of those Mon & Tues after the fact tryouts are money-grabs and most of those teams are not looking for more than maybe a few spots to still be filled, but I appreciated knowing that a player with no prior history with the club could still be recognized as valuable at a good club on one of the last days of tryouts. |
I think once you age into the U16s the stakes are higher and different and the expectations are different b/c HS play (presumably by this age you've made it on/played JV or even Varsity) really hones your skills.
It's no longer the U12/13/14/15 age group in which your loyalty to a certain club pays off b/c you've been with them from the start or that your a "shoe-in". The U16/17 is truly the big dogs playing and try-outs reflect that. |
Can you share what happened to your DD that make it a vicious culture? some facts will help us as new PP. |
This happened to my u16 daughter this season. She had one disappointing offer from a club but really didn’t want to play there. So she went to two last chance callbacks on Monday/Tuesday and got two offers. We did check beforehand to confirm they were looking for her position. So it did work out for her and the tryouts weren’t just a money grab. But again we made sure we were targeting clubs looking to fill her position. She’s also a MB, so there were still a lot of clubs looking for that. |
