People have claimed on this board that no one would ever take the risk of voting as a noncitizen for fear of prosecution.

And the vast majority of them wouldn't. I also like to say that the vast majority of people won't shut on the salad bar at Ponderosa for fear of prosecution, but sure. Yeah. I am sure you can find a few people who share in salad bars.

Exceptions prove the rule.

So yes, your previous claim was incorrect.

What previous claim? You are arguing a bad face because you know no one said "no one ever ever would." Just that it is so rare as to be negligible beyond negligible

You can always find an outlier; it doesn't mean anything.

Learn how to reason please.

Michigan doesn’t require documentation of citizenship to register to vote. It’s a self attesting box check which he did.

I’ll repeat slowly. Your claim that “no one ever claimed they don’t happen” is false as any reader of this board could tell you. People say that all the time here.

Insane! How does the vote count if hes not allowed to vote.

And was prosecuted!

THIS IS NOT A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM NO MATTER WHAT YOUR MAGA MASTER SAYS.

Correct.

At most, it probably only happens a half million or so times each national election. Tops. No more than that.

Show me just once where someone said "it never happens." I'll be waiting here all day. At best you'll find one which of course by your logic extrapolates out to everybody. But that would be false.

Look we know what's going on here all evidence seems to show that the majority of people who commit voter fraud are Republicans. But whatever. Put that aside.

You all know your boy is about to lose and lose big and you're setting the stage for a ground swell of election fraud accusations

Guys it's just not going to happen this time we're all over it. The courts. The law. The citizens. No one's buying the same old song from you idiots anymore.

This guy basically self attested to not being a citizen. You have no basis for your claim that this is not a more widespread problem. Michigan didn’t catch it - he did.

You all are insufferable. He realized he shouldn't have voted and turned himself in. Come to think of it, he definitely voted Democrat. A GOP would lie and never do something so honorable as to admit to making an error.

What exactly is insufferable? Reminding you that the system didn’t catch the error? Pointing out that his illegal vote stands? What exactly is your issue with what I wrote and why does illegal voting not upset you? Do you not understand why this case would undermine people’s faith in voting integrity?

I’m not going to get outraged over a couple of cases. Maybe the system didn’t catch it because he admitted to it first. People are getting prosecuted for it, rightfully so, which is what I said. Where was the outrage for all the Trumpsters caught in voting fraud? Where is the outrage for a Trumpster threatening voters with a knife?

Yes. You are insufferable.

I went to UofM and voted absentee in Maryland in my years there . It’s shocking they would take student id since tons of nonresidents attend Michigan

It isn't an issue as long as you don't vote in both places for the same cycle. This is routine, people should be able to vote where they are.
Michigan makes it very hard to become a resident . How can they register to vote but pay out of state tuition?

not eveh residency ? He’s a foreign student . I went to Michigan and was always a Maryland resident. I would have killed for in state tuition

It’s fine if you aren’t outraged. Name calling because others are discussing a news article and debating points of view is disgraceful behavior.

That is fake news from your dear leader. If you can find reputable sources saying that 500K noncitizens are voting for the president then I’ll share your outrage.

I’ll wait….

Residency is different. Michigan wants proof of residency as detailed below but does not ask for proof of citizenship.

From Michigan.gov:

Within 14-days of an election, and on Election Day, student voters must register in person at their local clerk’s office and must present proof of residency.

Proof of residency is an official document that has a voter’s current name and address listed on it.

Examples include:

A valid Michigan driver’s license or state ID
Any document issued by a Michigan high school, college, or university, or other educational institution, including:
A webpage on your university student portal displaying your name and on-campus address (ex. Wolverine Access, StuInfo, Academica, CentralLink, GoWMU)
Financial aid documents
University registration forms
A bank or credit card statement
Utility bill (including gas, electric, internet, lease, or rental agreement).

I have never seen this guy’s proof of American citizenship. He has a very foreign sounding name - Russian or one of those other garbage countries.

Who? The voter is Chinese.

Craig Mauger Chinese? I thought he was a foreigner but Chinese?

Search it for yourself. Read the various threads on illegal immigration and you’ll see the arguments range from the predictable “it never happens” to “it’s not widespread” to “aliens should be allowed to vote”. Give me a break about the idea that it’s never argued. Of course it is and we have all read it.

The rest of your screed is partisan nonsense and irrelevant to this thread. Keep on topic.

Every illegal vote cancels a citizen’s vote. It’s a shame you aren’t at all upset by someone being disenfranchised unnecessarily.
