Should the Liberty University students not vote in VA? All you need is proof of your dormitory to vote. This is such a non-issue. |
Uh, do you know the Michigan attorney general was up for election in 2022 and DaPerno, the GOP opponent wanted to ban statewide abortion. If you are living there for 4 years, hth does that not affect you? |
That didn’t help Obama. Trump and his minions still said he wasn’t born here. |
If you live in a university town, you benefit immensely from the university and the students who are paying tuition. You have sports, entertainment, culture, etc. you would not otherwise have. You have a lot of educated citizens who contribute to the community. You have great public schools, health care, and services. Part of your property value is because of the proximity of the university. All the students count in the Census for your state’s Congressional apportionment and formula funding of dozens of grants. They pay sales taxes, excise taxes, etc. that fund local governments. They live there and are subject to state and local laws for several years. Students should have the same right to vote as an other resident. |
He lost the AG race in 2022 and is out for destruction. A true @sskissing Trumpster. |
If you can vote in a state. You should be able to pay in-state tuition. |
That’s not how the law works. OOS students are residents of their home state. If they want to vote and can’t travel back to vote in person, they have to submit absentee ballots to their states of residence. They cannot vote in the town where their dorm is unless they change their residency to that state/district. Most parents still claim them as dependents on their tax returns. If the parents do that, then they have to maintain their residency with the parents. And students here in student visas are not American citizens so they are ineligible to vote based on federal law. |
Trumpsters are so desperate. First it’s all GenZ are voting for Trump. Now they defy logic again to think every oos college voter is Dem. Should my son’s single Trumpster friend not vote in NY, because that’s what he’s planning to do? Should Trumpster oos not vote at Penn State? Of course they’re allowed. |
What percentage are not citizens? And goes Virginia verify citizenship at any time when registering to vote? |
You are wrong. A college student who is a citizen is eligible to register and vote where they live as a student even if they are still a dependent for tax purposes to parents in another state. The student decides which residence to claim. Republicans in VA tried to prevent students from registering with dorm addresses in 2008 and they lost in court. |
Only US citizens should vote. Doesn’t matter he votes for Trump or democrats, only US citizens should vote . I naturalized so that I can vote. |
Again, the standard should not be: “no evidence of …” It should be: “we know it was fair, secure, and open to every eligible citizen”* Those are different standards and the latter one is crucial to a functional, pluralistic democracy. *Thank you to the PP who added the last part. |
Yes, we all agree on that, Vlad. The question was to whether it could be retrieved. Everyone seems to think he voted Dem, which just speaks to their paranoia. |
LOL I will not be shocked at all if he's some online-radicalized rightwinger who is obsessed with Trump and was egged on to vote for Trump by 4chan. Once the Feds get into his online history, his true sympathies will become very clear. Idiot. |
Exactly. This is organized election fraud. If they thought these kids were 90+ % MAGA voters this crap would end immediately. |
