We should dedicate the next mass to ISIS since “they need prayers”

As long as we do this for all nonprofits, sure.l

The whole point is that this is the rule for every other tax deductible nonprofit but churches think they don’t have to follow the rules.

And when a nonprofit funds or hires a PAC?

You really don’t seem to understand very much about how nonprofits work. I have zero doubt that 350action does and is in compliance with the law.

From the wording, it sounds as if someone bought a Mass card for in Trump’s names. This usually happens after people die but I have heard masses offered for people who were ill or in the military

No matter what you think of him, he's a major figure at the moment, and the course of his life affects all of us. Trusting God with a prayer to move Trump to a better position is a religiously a good thought.

I am a Catholic and unless he is on his deathbed it’s against the rules and since Catholics are all about rules whoever sanctioned this should be immediately removed.

You haven’t got the slightest idea what you’re talking about. Somebody went and asked that the scheduled Mass be offered for the intentions of a given individual, and made an extremely modest financial offering. This is an everyday occurrence in the Catholic Church. People probably most frequently ask for Masses to be said for the repose of the souls of deceased persons, but it is absolutely within “the rules” for the Mass to be requested for the benefit of someone living. Common occasions would be birthdays, marriages, reception of other sacraments, financial or other special needs, and illness (not necessarily “deathbed”).

As at a typical Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes in Bethesda, prayers were given for the living and the dead, the infirm and the Church.

But on this day, the reader ended the prayer of the faithful with some unusual words:

“We pray for the intention of Donald J. Trump, for whom this Mass is being offered today,” a parishioner remembered hearing at the late-summer gathering.

Meanwhile both maternal deaths and abortions rose post-Dobbs so even if you disregard his waffling on abortion and every other thing Trump does that is inconsistent with Catholic doctrine (which is a lot as the Pope has noted) I still don’t get why you think he is “pro-life”.

The Catholic Church wants to outlaw abortion and IVF so they can get back to stealing teenagers’ babies and selling them to eager infertile Catholic couples. It’s big business.

So is child murder.

Yes it’s Christian like to protect the integrity of a church who refused to remove priests when it was beyond clear they belonged in jail not in a church with children.

How helpful of you not to cite or provide the text of the alleged “prohibition” which, by the way, is not controlling as to either the bishop or the pastor.

How long until Trump starts selling Trump-branded indulgences to MAGA Catholics? He can smell suckers from miles away.

I pray for the United States and those who preserve, protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.

I think you mean under the Biden administration, maternal deaths and abortions went up. And Trump has always been pro-choice.

You are absolutely twisted and sick. You disgust me.

I agree that sinners need the most prayers.

But still, it's not a good look for a Church to do that.

The reader should have prayed for all the candidates.

If I were a parishioner, I would make an official complaint.

Half the people in the Church vomited upon hearing his unholy name. Most Catholics are NOT MAGA.

To be clear: what was read was a prayer offered by a single parishioner (whom we all hope was praying for Trump to wise up and step down). Other prayers of other parishioners would also have been read at the same time.

It is quite clear that a person who adheres to the Catholic faith could not in good conscience vote for Trump. Some will anyway, but most will not.
