+1. He's just a guy who got acclaim and money while young (That 70s Show) and never had to alter his irresponsible ways because he was indulged by Hollywood. He tried to change his image by promoting his role as tech investor and his anti-sex-trafficking organization. But, as most Hollywood PR nonsense, its importance and impact was greatly exaggerated. He's an average person and a jerk who has money and PR. I think he will be abandoned soon by Hollywood.

Many good looking teenage boys are immature jerks. I always assumed that was the issue and he never grew up so now he is middle aged with teenaged maturity.

He wasn't a teen when he came to Hollywood. He was 20, and had been recruit through modeling from college (where he admittedly partied all the time).

20 is still pretty young

He was suicidal because he wanted his heart to be given to his twin brother who was dying and needed a transplant. Not because he actually wanted to die. There is absolutely no proof he was abused.

And he may be "messed up", but he did that, not because he had an abusive childhood. I understand he was at Diddy parties, but he was old enough and had enough seniority in hollywood to make his own decisions to be there. He's more of a predator than a victim.

We're speaking in hypotheticals, of course. But Ashton was not some desperate street kid, he had the agency to simply go finish college at Iowa and become some 9 to 5 $60K a year schmuck in Des Moines or Chicago who rises the white collar ladder. He did...whatever...to become a famous idle rich guy worth $200 mil married to an actress.

He was 19 to her 14. I am a little older than they are and can say that in my world (suburban NY) no one would have batted an eye toward a couple of those respective ages back then. Plenty of 14 yr old girls had french kissed. I briefly dated a 19 yr old as a 14/15 yr old, and in college dated a senior as a freshman. Even in hindsight with a 50 yr old’s perspective, I would never say I was taken advantage of.

My kids feel like you do - they are horrified if a senior in their HS dates a sophomore. That was probably the most common couple age gap in my HS.
