Uptake of 2024-25 Covid Booster

I expected that, but had my most mild reaction this time (much less than my numerous previous shots).

I got mine last week. I have a couple of big events coming up in October and just didn’t want to get exposed to anything and deal with sickness.

Last year the CDC reported 23 percent got the shot. It will likely be similar this year.

It’s hard to make any assumptions about this time of the year frankly, there’s a lot of people who got COVID over the surge this summer so wouldn’t be getting shots now anyway and also a lot of older people got shots in the spring to prepare for summer trips - so they are not going to get the Covid shot for this year until later in the fall.

This is why I haven't taken my kid for the booster yet

I just did my covid/flu vaccines yesterday on my lunch break. Very sore shoulder, as usual. Also, it probably doesn't help that I just did my shoulder workout before getting the vaccines.

We are waiting because DH had confirmed Covid and DW possibly had Covid in August.

I was full pro-vaccine for awhile, but honestly not sure I will continue to get the Covid vaccines. They have questionable side effects and I still get Covid. I guess I do not know if I would get it more often or worse without it. But it is certainly not the magic pill they were selling us.

I will get the flu vaccine. No bad side effects - just a sore arm, and definitely impacts if I get the actual flu.

Let’s bring in vaccine card checks for indoor establishments. Show the card at the door or no entry into the restaurant, mall, grocery store or office! Surely this will stop the spread and lead to vax uptake!!!

Had a Covid and Flu vaccine yesterday. It had been a year for both for me, and I have several major work events involving travel across the next two months, and anything I can do to reduce the risk of missing those is worthwhile.

With that said, I had moderna for the first time and my side effects were much worse than with Pfizer.

Shots at 10 AM on Friday, went to bed OK, woke up with major headache around 15 hours post-shot and had a rough night of sleep. Tylenol in this morning and no further issues.

So not pleasant, but much better than my one time with Covid, which had me in worse shape for 4-5 days and unable to travel for ~10 days.

Better to pick a time when you can feel bad, than have it happen when you can't.

NPR did a segment on the 2024-25 booster. https://www.npr.org/2024/09/25/nx-s1-5103942/very-few-people-are-getting-the-latest-covid-19-vaccines

"So far, very few people have been rolling up their sleeves to get the latest COVID-19 vaccines ... Remember when people desperately scrambled for appointments and lined up around the block to get vaccinated against COVID? Well, those days are long gone. The vaccines have been getting less and less popular. And so far this year, that trend looks like it's continuing. According to the CDC data out today, only 2.8% of adults have gotten one of the updated vaccines since they became available about a month ago."

I'll get one but had covid in the summer surge so will wait another month. I don't know what current infection rates are but I know tons of people who had it over the summer and none who have it now so there are probably a good number of people waiting as well.

What worthless drivel. Wow NPR, you mean years after Covid has been circulating, most have people been both vaccinated and gotten COVID at this point, demand for the vaccine is down?!?!?! What was the point of this?

I will probably continue to get an annual Covid shot at least for the next few years along with my flu shot. I believe it is the reason why the one time I did get Covid it was very mild and not a big deal. But I totally understand why people might not want to get the shot or not prioritize it.

My doctor's office is just getting the vaccine this week.

Got mine last Wednesday bc I have a ton of travel coming up, and I know a ton of people with Covid right now. Got Moderna and had zero side effects except a mildly sore arm.

I’m in my mid 40s.

Sounds like a way to kill your business.

Nope for me. I had a whole thing with my lymph nodes being enlarged on my mammogram due to the last shot. I was sick for 3 days post shot. Sicker than when I had Covid - I have had Covid once (that I know of). Done getting shots. I will get a flu shot. It does not affect me the same as the Covid shots.
