So you wish to…never get old? You want to die before you get “old”? Is that the preferred choice for you? Idiot. |
| 90s though back then I remember pining for the 80s. You never know how good you have it |
| I’m old. I was late teens-early 20’s in the 80’s. We really did rock it. Toga parties. Crazy rock concerts. The mash pits and the dive bars. Slam dancing. Late nights in NYC at bars that let the pretty girls through the rope line. Beach house at the Jersey Shore—my god, Bruce at the Stone Pony. I attended Rutgers when the Tony Soprano guy was the bouncer at the Knight Club, and we regularly rocked out to the Smithereens, live, at our local dance club. The 90’s were okay but the 80’s really rocked the house. |
| The 90s. College, grad school and my first few years of marriage before kids. They were pretty carefree years. |

I was born in ‘69 so I grew up right smack in the eighties.
My memories of that time was that EVERYthing was so turned up: The music 🎶, the fashion….. Everything was larger than life in the ‘80’s - everything was just bigger, brighter (remember neon colors??!) Lol. The music + movies during this decade were just phenomenal. MTV was new on the pop culture scene & changed the dynamic of music reception forever. Icons such as Michael Jackson, Madonna and even Prince were in their prime. The nineties were relatively chill compared to the eighties in my opinion. Comparing the two decades would be like comparing apples -> oranges. |
| Wouldn't someone enjoying one decade over the over depend on how old they were at the time? |
But 80's alt was pretty lit. |
Still didn't get to be teens during the magical era of pre-internet and pre-helicopter parents. And yes, 90's parents were helicopter parents too despite the term not being coined yet. |
This song was already old in 1988 and more representative of the 70's and early 80's |
This, I'm a bit younger than you, graduated HS in 1990, but had older siblings and was exposed to that carefree world of sex, drugs, and rock and roll that started slowly declining in the late 80;s. |
Yes. I was a child in the 80’s and a teen in the 90’s. I have good memories of the 90’s but maybe I would have enjoyed any decade where I was a teenager. |

No thanks... sexual abuse and sexual harassment was insane.
good riddens to the Brett and Squi days. |

Hard to choose. I was a teen in the 80s and always in school. But I went to classical music concerts all the time, watched Live Aid on TV as it aired, and had parties in my house while my parents went to the other house. I have danced at a party all night to Total Eclipse of the Heart in eight grade.
In the 90s I went to live in Prague with my boyfriend, and we had the best time. I walked like nuts everywhere and loved every minute of being on my own and exploring the country. Got married in the 90s, etc. Hard to choose. Maybe the 90s. |
Her parents are probably glad those days are over and she is now across the country. The lies, the drama, and the stupidity all played out across time. “Hey Leland, you better lie with and for us” was repeated over multiples decades. |
There were an innumerable amount of parties like that and way worse. That was just a run of the mill mid-day pool party. |
