OP is probably also the one who posted about women calling teen boys "guys"

And she wears some tasteful "slacks" when she goes "marketing."

lol. 💯

He was reluctant at first but agreed to do so. The first day he played, he met a young lady, and they hung out after that. The next day, we played at a different park with another group, and he met another young lady. Soon after, he is now hanging out with many young people who are into pickleball. I say about 50% of players are young adults, and he is currently dating one of the ladies in the group. The positive side is that most pickleball people are professional people.

Get off dating apps and join the pickleball crowd, and your odds will improve.

He is dating a 65-year-old cougar?

The thread became just about pickleball and lost the bigger picture a bit...Just do things which interest and engage you anyway and you'll meet people who share your interests. That's a much better starting point for a real relationship, or at least some good, fun dates, than starting with swipes based on a photo and some curated "profile" details. Look for people who are actively engaging in things, not just claiming in a dating app profile that they do X or Y for a hobby.

My relative met her current serious boyfriend when he volunteered for a charity where she is a staff member. Same values, established from the start. A friend met his wife at their college's DC-area alumni group. Same frame of reference and starting point for things to talk about. I met my DH at church in the young adult group. Same values, and turned out we had a lot of interests in common. Another friend met her boyfriend at open ballroom dance lessons at a dance school. My young adult DD is the same age as OP's DS, and she just moved to a new city solo, and she's done things like join a crafting group and a city park cleanup organization--no dates yet that I know of, but she's meeting new friends.

Do what you value, what you enjoy, and would do anyway--even if you weren't hoping to meet someone to date. Then you'll have a better foundation and will already know you share at least one interest when you meet someone who's appealing.

It is neither. I am a member at Westwood CC in Vienna, and the CC has PB too.

Well, that’s not exactly a country club with a lot of prestige is it?

Oh of course, it must have PRESTIGE. Oh my god, you f3cking TOOL.

That’s changing! My college freshmen and his buddies would go play in the evening last summer…and these at D1 athletes Its now on a lot of college campuses for kids to screw around with.

And in the 1990s every college put in sand/beach volleyball courts. Pickleball is just the latest thing. It’s not going to become an Olympic sport.

In NYC pickleball meet and greets have been huge this summer. It’s interesting that the women tickets sell out first.

More than 70% of avid pickleball players are between the ages of 18 and 44, with 40% between 25 and 34 and 18% between 18 and 24.

I don't know how accurate the stat is. I play PB at Lewinsville Park in McLean in the afternoon/evening, and I also play at Meridian school in Falls church. I can definitely say that about 60% of PB players is between the age of 18 and 40. When I was vacationing in Bradenton Florida earlier this year, and played PB there, the PB courts right next to a medical/dental school was packed with young future professional doctors and dentists, both males and females.

No different than drunk kickball 15 years ago. How many marriages were created out of that fad?

Pickleball will be over in 10 years

I don't think so. Fairfax, Arlington, Loudoun, Stafford, and Prince Williams counties are building out new PB courts, at the expense of tennis courts, in order to keep up with demands for PB.

Are you aware the PB is now a varsity sport in MoCo County Public School? It will likely be a varsity in Fairfax County Public School next year.

The goal of corollary sports is to increase interscholastic athletics participation opportunities for all students, in particular students with disabilities. An important goal of corollary teams is to achieve an approximately even ratio of participants with and without disabilities. Corollary sports include Pickleball in the fall, Bocce in the winter, and Allied Softball in the spring.

My friend, they had breakdancing at the last Olympics. They might well have pickleball soon.

Beach volleyball is still in the Olympics, btw. And I'm not sure how it's some knock down point that things get popular for a time then less popular?

The Brooklyn Nets star joins fellow NBA stars LeBron James and Draymond Green in becoming an MLP owner. Kevin Durant will serve as the owner of a Major League Pickleball franchise.

Helicopter mom alert!!

When I was 23, I was living 1,500 miles from mommy, in my own apartment, and banging grad students every night.
