What are the odds all three of my children are “queer”

As soon as I saw "religious" in OP's post I just laughed. The tendency to be susceptible to social trends is genetic too. The parents got caught up in religion the way their kids got caught up in gender trender stuff because they're all wired to let other people do their thinking for them.

Even if they end up in Hell for eternity it’s important to support their choice and make a tiny fraction of existence more pleasant.

This is not true.

It's actually far more common than you think. Many children were abused by various religious leaders at different religious organizations. Their insidious behaviors affected those children for the rest of their lives. Please don't discount the lived experiences of abused children at the hands of your religious leaders.

My daughter’s friend had boy girl twins in her grade. Both had switched genders!!!!
(And this was at a conservative boarding school)

I know a set of twins like this too….and not at a conservative boarding school. Wow.

Same!

There is a genetic component, but it is thought that the genes responsible for lesbianism are not the same genes responsible for gay men. So if there are gays and lesbians in the same nuclear family, that is a rare coincidence. I read somewhere that lesbianism (which is less strongly predicted by genes) may be passed down through the father.

I’m a lesbian and there are 4 lesbians among my aunts and first cousins on my dad’s side not including me. No gay males that I know of. My partner’s aunt (her dad’s sister) was also a lesbian. All this in a conservative religious family. I know it’s anecdotal but ya know?

This also.^ It's trendy for parents in certain circles to push homosexuality on children right now, for the attention. Many kids aren't. Parents really should not get involved in a child's lovelife unless the child asks for advice, then stick to the facts and remain neutral.

Yes, and that circle is 6 people in the world.

Sexuality is a spectrum.

I'm sure it is more than just your own circle.

Are you trying to deny that religious leaders molested and raped children? I'm confused at your point, if there is one. Perhaps it is you that "don't know jack shit", but I'm guessing you couldn't articulate a clarification if requested anyways.

Meh, everyone is queer these days. It's a fad. The regular ones will move on. Some will not.

You are claiming a causal connection to being gay. You have not attempted to provided data for that claim.

I think god gives us our children to teach us. What have you learned?

NP. Literally the first thing that pops up when you google this…I’m sure there’s more, but I’m not looking further.

Or supportive nonjudgmental home.

It’s probably not this as OP says her family is very religious.

Do you always stop reading after the first couple of sentences?

“I decided that in the end, loving my children wholly was most important and did a lot of self work. I still am spiritual, but my mindset has grown and I have a much better relationship with my kids for it.”

Doesn’t suggest OP is “supportive”…says she worked through her issues to still love them….waaaay different than supporting their choice and not judging. I’m sure the kids know OP is a Jesus freak and the implications of that despite OP finding it in herself to still love them.

Any links or research you can share?

Anonymous wrote:I believe there’s genetics involved in almost everything. There are no family members in the most recent generations who are gay. And believe me no one would have a problem with it. We are not religious. But with about 10% of the population you would think there would be a couple of gay family members. But maybe we don’t have the genetics.

Left handedness is genetic and my family is about 40% left handed which is a large amount.

Mental illness is one of the last unknown medical fields but it appears to be genetic. Autism is in that group. These illnesses run in my family and they haven’t made much progress at all in treatment or proper diagnosis.

There’s a book about a family with about 11 kids more or less and six of the boys were diagnosed with severe schizophrenia. That’s unheard of too.

My family is much like yours. Lots of mental illness, left-handedness, but only one gay person that I know of in 3 generations. Family is very bohemian with tons of gay friends, so it no social pressure to be straight.
