+1 She doesn’t deserve this. I’ve known several people who came chemo with all their hair. Let her be. |
I think her hair always looks fabulous. If these are extensions, I am off to Sally’s to buy some for me. |
Tamoxifen is not what people mean when they use the word chemo. |
She has always kept her hair meticulous. I wouldn't be surprised if she's used wigs/extensions, and certainly now. She looks great and I wish her the best. |
She used the words "preventive chemo." Tamoxifen is exactly what they mean, and others because tamoxifen is for breast cancer recurrence. Anyway, the point being that it's not as devastating as chemo that's directed at metastatic cancer. |
Colon cancer chemo drugs don’t typically cause hair loss. We don’t know what type she had but it was around her abdomen so colon cancer is a pretty good bet. |
I am tamoxifen and it’s not a chemo drug at all - it’s just a hormone blocker and you stay on it for 10 years and doesn’t make you sick. She specifically said she’s finished chemo. |
WE do not know how long she has been on chemo. I have BC and just finished four rounds of chemo. I used a cold cap, and still lost a lot of hair, but still have half left. Tamoxifen is not chemo, it is an estrogen blocker BC patients take for a number of years once they are done with chemo/radiation. |
I had "preventative chemo". What that means in general is a tumor was located and not shown to have metastasized. You go on chemo to ensure any microscopic cells are obliterated so it doesn't metastasize. If you just do surgery (past the point when it's extremely small) you run the risk of it coming back because of tiny bits of disease. If you do chemo that should in theory wipe everything out. |
I'm glad she's better. The point, whatever form of chemo she's had, is that she's finished it.
In theory she could go back to work now, but one of the major themes of the video is that she'll only make a few public appearances (Cenotaph and Christmas concert?) for the rest of the year and maybe supervise her staff as they issue more social media. That seems off? |
I had cancer 1A and was offered tamoxifen. Blocking hormones is exactly what many chemo therapies do; they're not all purely destructive. That's the point being made here. But I agree that if she's finished, it wasn't tamoxifen, and anyway tamoxifen is for breast cancer but she's said her surgery was for abdominal cancer. Glad she's better. |
This. And I think it was ovarian cancer she had. |
This. I am sure she was concerned about her hair so she either cold capped (didn't work for me though!) or they tried to give her a regimen that does not cause hair loss. Some do, some don't. In my observation, most people who have chemo do lose their hair. But yeah, I think she did have some loss and is using Hollywood magic to look normal-ish. |
I have two people in my life who did many months of chemo and radiation and did not lose their hair. Depends on what part of the body is being treated and what kind of chemo/radiation. Cold Cap also helps tremendously. |
She never actually said her surgery was for abdominal cancer. Everyone assumes this, because the cancer diagnosis came after the surgery, but it was never confirmed. |
