Why doesnt anyone mention DeMatha here?

Anonymous
This is hilarious..DeMatha is one of the most storied HS in this area! Tons of history and has been churning out quality young men for decades. It's known as an athletic powerhouse but does so much more. Certainly worth looking at if it's in your area. Seton is their sister school.

This forum is dominated by the white liberal moms of DC, Bethesda and Arlington who send their kids to the so-called big 3 or big 5 private schools, in DC or Bethesda.
Dematha is in PG and you know what they think of PG County.

no. What?

What the poster said is correct.

What’s it like there for a kid who likes sports but doesn’t play (due to a hidden disability)?

Plenty of kids there that do not play sports. Sports come up whenever DeMatha is discussed because of the school's reputation for high performance and athletic success l, but by no means does that mean every student there is athletic or an athlete.

Someone keeps trying to make DeMatha happen. Not sure if it is their admissions people on here or just an over zealous parent.

Seton which is their sister school is predominately African American with a 11% white student body.
So not sure why people are arguing the ratio's?

Seton is the sister school, but it’s located in an area that’s almost all Black. Dematha’s in a mixed area.

Dematha doesn't need anyone to make it happen. Dematha has been happening for a long, long time.

-Not a Dematha parent, booster or anything whatsoever.

There's a huge vocal and instrumental music program as well that wins national awards regularly. Even if your kid doesn't play an instrument, they have a system in place to get a kid up and going in 9th grade. Lots clubs as well.

Some additional pluses-
1. Learning center is included in tuition. The staff that runs the learning center is phenomenal at working with kids of all abilities.
2. They really seem to get boys. Much of the staff have been there for 20+ years and they don't seem tired of it at all. They really seem to grow a brotherhood and not the brotherhood of obnoxious fraternity brothers.
3. Textbooks were included with tuition. Instrumental and vocal music program try to reduce the out of pocket expenses etc.
4. Strict no cell phone policy

+1 The "Big Whatever" crowd is not talking about Catholic Schools at all. People choosing Catholic schools are largely choosing the ones closest to them and where their kids' friends are going too (St. Anselm's excepted, as it is niche).

Yes, I'm actually a MoCo public schools parent.
Nowhere did I shout how great they are. I said they don't need anyone to make them happen. Dematha has been known for a very long time.
You seem insecure.

The "Big whatever" crowd is dominated by moms from NW DC, Bethesda, and Arlington.
So the original poster is correct.
