Or antipsychotics, or even antidepressants long term. |
She has hashimoto thyroid disease but she's also a known alcoholic |
Alcohol is probably it. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and it does not cause speech changes or facial asymmetry. |
She looks like she’s put on 50 pounds since the last time I saw her which was a few years ago. I guessed I missed something. |
Maybe some kind of palsy, but probably not Bell's simply because it's a fairly short term ailment. Why would she come out with a video while she's suffering from a short-term condition that affects her face? |
Not yet... At a certain point in many Hashimotos cases, Synthroid or other meds no longer are effective. Moon face is a known symptom. Typically with Hashimotos, you have other autoimmune diseases as well. So she may also be on prednisone or other anti-imflamatories. |
https://healthmatch.io/hashimotos-disease/hashimotos-disease-symptoms-face#symptoms-of-hashimoto-s-thyroiditis Can Hashimoto's disease affect my face? Many symptoms and signs of thyroid disease affect the face (and skin). Some Hashimoto's disease face and thyroid disease symptoms to keep an eye out for include: Dull facial expressions Slow speech Swollen and puffy face Dry, coarse, and thickened skin Sides of eyebrows fall out or are thin Coarse, sparse, and dry hair Hoarse voice Facial palsy³ |
What is a moon face? |
It’s basically a condition in which the face looks round and puffy due to a medical condition https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/symptoms/moon-face |
I have had it for 20 years and I have had my thyroid levels under control. Thanks for your concern |
Some of the time it is short term. About 30% of the time it results in a chronic facial asymmetry. https://www.med.unc.edu/ent/facialnervecenter/conditions/bells-palsy/ She's always seemed to me to look like classic Turner syndrome, with the broad shield chest and the wide webbed neck (she always wears her hair over her neck, if you look). Comes with infertility as well, and she has no biological children. About 30% of women with Turner syndrome develop Hashimoto thyroiditis, and stroke risk is much higher with Turner syndrome. It's one of the reasons that predicted lifespan is shorter. https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/pdf/10.1161/HCG.0000000000000048 The facial asymmetry is not due to drinking. She is probably still trying to work despite medical difficulties and should be left alone. ![]() |
You are one person and do not represent everyone with the condition. The post above shies what Hashimotos does to many people. For you to blame alcohol without knowing the facts is ignorant. |
For you to tell me about my thyroid with zero knowledge of my records is equally ignorant. |
Nobody is talking about you. What is wrong with you? Beside Hashimoto |
No, people are talking about thyroid conditions in general. You are the one generalizing your individual experience as if it represented everyone's, and then being mad about people talking about general thyroid issues as if they were targeting you. |
