Last yeqrs 3 and 4th grades missed a whole year of real school at critical ages. But yes, the SEC makeup of the county matters. Whiter and wealthier does better not surprisingly. The verh wealthy in moco just go private
Its not all parents fault but schools cant be tasked with making up all the lost time for kids who enter without much language or education being a focus in homes that are just trying to survive with multiple jobs and these 10 year olds often coming home an caring for smaller siblings. |
I wonder if any of the complainers have non-proficient kids.
Schools can't raise everyone's kids. |
You could not be wronger about that, although the whining and refusal to take accountability for your own success and failure is unfortunately typical of the worst parts of the SN parent community. |
So the test is worthless and meaningless and no one should take it seriously, but you can't hope but grandstand that MCPS did better than SOME other districts and that means therefore, MCPS is in fact great, even though I'm in the same breath saying to ignore the test. You are a real piece of work. |
White kids didn't see much improvement year over year, so their whiteness is not helping them increase those proficiencies significantly year over year. MCPS is failing everyone. |
My spouse and I pay nearly $100,000/year making sure our SN kid is getting the supports they need. But your sense that parents are the only ones who can fail their kid is so twisted. We are paying fully out of pocket to support our kid because MCPS shirked its legal obligation. |
MoCo farms rate 34% Hock farms rate 22.5% Carroll farms rate 28% Worcester farms 51.8 (so they must be doing something right there…wonder if they are really emphasizing the test) |
Source? Unless you're really watering the def down. |
Let’s be clear, Congress shirked its legal obligation which it passed. |
It’s in this book, which is considered the gold standard on dyslexia research: http://dyslexia.yale.edu/research-science/overcoming-dyslexia/ Here’s the Yale Study: http://dyslexia.yale.edu/research-science/ycdc-research/yale-outcome-study-outcomes-graduates-without-dyslexia/#:~:text=Dyslexia%20is%20the%20most%20common,an%20unexpected%20difficulty%20in%20reading. My daughter has dyslexia. Trust me — I know the stats. |
Excuses. |
C'mon now! Worcester has a total population of about 7,000 students. MCPS is over 160,000 students. That's apples to oranges comparison. BTW, MCPS farms rate is 41%, while Worcester farms rate is 46% |
Well that test is seriously flawed if no jurisdiction can score over 50% on the math portion. Even on the ELA, the scores are not great for anyone. Something is not right with that test. |
🤣. So it’s excuses when Congress who is supposed to fully fund the law that will pay for SN services and support. But when school districts can’t then create miracles they’re lazy, inefficient and should be sued. |
Are there any policies or procedures that the more successful school systems are following that we should consider following? |
